This past week every now and then I feel like i have stuff in my chest and it kind of rattles. I dont feel it all the time but is that related to asthma or could it possible mean I have a cold coming on.

Mia,
I would like to welcome you to HealingWell. That rattle in your chest could be bronchitis or a cold that is getting worse. I don't necessarily know that it means that you have asthma. Have you had shortness of breath or any other asthma type symptoms? You most definitely need to see your doctor right away because a rattle in your chest is something that needs to be checked. Are you a smoker?
Please let us know what you find out and please keep posting.
Take care!

No I have never smoked. And I have already been diagnosed with asthma. I had an mild attack last Friday after running and all weekend I was short of breath. Then I got a sinus infection with a fever and just now getting over it. I have never experienced the rattle in my chest before and just wondering if anyone else has. Im trying to get in with my pulmonologist but hes the only one in town and super busy.

You're hearing mucus in the airway that gets 'rattled' by the air moving past it. Asthma attacks cause a lot of mucus production in the airways. After the Asthma attack is done, the mucus is still there, so an expectorant (such as guaifenesin) can be used to thin this mucus & lubricate the airways so the mucus can be expelled (coughed out) more easily. But it would be a good idea to talk with your doctor about
this to make sure there isn't something else contributing to your symptoms.

Mia,
I feel a little bit better knowing that you have already been diagnosed with asthma and you know what an asthma attack is. I hope you are able to get in with your pulmonologist just to let him check out what is still going on in your chest and to make sure you should be running until it is all cleared up. I'm sorry, I had to ask if you were a smoker.
Please keep us posted.
Take care!

No its ok that u asked if I smoked....I did go running today and yeah not a good idea...I do think I need to wait a little bit longer before I jump back into it. Something is going on b/c I use to be able to run further than I did today without having to much of a problem. I dont think my asthma is completely under control b/c I take my meds 15-20mins before I run but halfway into the run i feel it coming on and I get really short of breath and I start to wheeze some. When I was first diagnosed I took my meds like I do now and didnt have a problem it seems to be getting worse. Im hoping I can get in soon. This is wearing me out...im tired all the time.
