I am having a problem with red dye, when enjested or even touching food or body wash I have chest pains that are very strong and weakness in my musles. I ve even had to have any medication changed that has a red color or coating.  I found that the chest pains came on strong when I made some chocolate candy and got some on my fingers and I hadn't even tasted it, my body was that senitive to it.  Has anyone else had chest pains from red dye?

You could be having a severe allergic reaction. You need to see an allergerist as well as your pcp and a cardiologist right away to rule out any serious things. Please keep us posted.

A allergy to red dye is common but your reactions was atypical and you should report your reaction to a doctor as it sounds like a serious reaction
and you might need to carry something called a epi pen with you, an epi pen will help with the reaction but your
doctor might want you to report to the ER as well for future reactions...
Red dyes are very hard to avoid and can be found in uncooked meat (hamburger, steaks) sold at the stores and many candies, ect...
I totally agree with Smurfy Shadow get into an allergy doctor, maybe you can find out which red dye your allergic to so you'll know what food to avoid...
Good luck to you and keep us posted...

Thanks, I'll check again with my doctor, but each time I have told her about it she says I am over reacting.  Maybe it's time for a new doctor that has more experiance with red dye.  Thank you for caring, you might have just saved my life!!!
