Well...still looking for some advice with these hives/welts issue..had an appointment this morning with the immunologist and the dermatologist (biopsy's were done), and I'm still a medical mystery!!! The doctors in Montana are just as baffled by this as me.  So far all the drugs haven't made these darn things go away..any suggestions...I'm up for anything! I need some relief!!

Here is a list of my current meds and the meds I've tried so far:
Zyrtec (every 12 hours) -- however, they just switched me this morning to xyzal
Prednisone (30 mg)-- on a tapering does, doesn't seem to be helping unless high dose
Atarax- every 6 hours
Pepcid-- (every 12 hours)
Ativan-- (1 a day)
Singulair-- (made me feel funny though)
Depoxine-- (just put on it this morning, so I haven't taken it yet)
Claritin-- (did it for a while, but didn't help)
Tagament-- ("")
Benadryl-- ("")
Levothyroxine- was .88 mg a day, but they just lowered it to.50 a day as I didn't have this problem before they started messing with my thyroid.

Also, my husband just started Humira about the same time this started happening to me. Actually I didn't have this problem until he started Humira. Concidence or issue??

Thank you all for any input,
Alaina

Ulcerative Colitis-- Diagnosed when I was 16. (It has it's ups and downs)
Chronic Hives (my newest endeavor) :)

Current Meds:
Prednisone (30 mg and tapering was on 80 mg --for hives, not UC (but my UC is great right now because of the prednisone)), Xyzal (every 12 hours), Atarax (every 6 hours), Pepcid (every 12 hours), Doxepin (at bed time), Levothyroxine (.50 mg), and Ativan if needed, but I haven't really used it. I also have been loving Aveeno Oatmeal bath, and their calimine lotion when all else fails!

How did I go from being on no meds 3-4 weeks ago, to being on all of this now??? Just crazy!!  :)

Could be from medication, there is a rare disease called Chronic Hives. If I were you I would try a teaching hospital, it may take awhile, but they like to dig down on us mysteries. I was a mystery and had biopsy too, in my eye. Well...I got a triple diagnoses, I have a autoimmune disease that flared up which caused a rare inflamation disease (necrotizing gramultous inflamation of the eye) and that caused a tumor. Uggg. So dont quit gal!

Well, I'm not a total mystery any more. I have uticarial vasculitis. They are still running more tests to see what autoimmune disease is causing this, but atleast I know this for now.
