On the 5th i am to see a doctor for allergy testing. Never had this done before. I need tested for nickel , titanium and platinum. Has anyone had this done before? can you tell me what to expect?
Also has anyone become allergic to implanted devices? If so how did they help you? thank you

Hi Butterfly,
I have undergone traditional allergy testing, with scratch testing and needle pricks. It's nothing at all, really. They use a pen and draw some little lines on your arm, or wherever they'll be testing you. Generally they do a scratch test first, when they take the possible allergen and scratch it across your skin. If you get little reaction or no reaction, then they test you with a tiny amount of subcutaneous allergen.

I'm not sure that it will be different for the metals you're checking. I'm sure it won't be difficult. You don't need to worry.
Good luck pinpointing your problem!

I had an asd closure done. 3 days later i woke up feeling my heart was on fire. Now the burning feeling is thru to my back, shoulders, neck and back of my head. It feels like a chest is full of bengay and my back and shoulders are sunburnt.
I told my dr i couldnt wear nickel jewelry and didnt know about any other metals other than a good grade of gold before he put it in. He said he checked it and not to worry there was no nickel in it.
By the 5th day I called the company and was told there is a warning on these device about a nickel allergy and for me to be tested.
So hopfully i can soon get an answer and a way to take burn away.
It has been 9 days now and there hasnt been any relief and no answers.
I am really scared if it is an allergic reaction what will have to be done

Hate to break it to you, but if there is a warning and you are allergic to it....you need it removed then. If your airway closes, CALL 911 if you feeel swelling in your airway
