First, I have no history of asthma in my family. 26 years, and healthy. I do have some seasonal allergies that are easily controlled.

I was just getting over a pretty decent sore throat (not sure if this matters), when I moved into a new apartment. Three days later, I started waking up with tightness in my chest. Three months of waking up early with tightness, I went to the doctor and had a breathing test. All I was told after that is, you have asthma, here's an inhaler, case closed.

My asthma only occurs at nighttime. I've never needed an emergency inhaler, and I can get by with half a dose of Symbicort. I moved apartments, and I kept the asthma!

Is it just coincidence that I developed asthma after moving into a new apartment? Could it have been something in the apartment that caused me to develop? Could it ever go away? Ever since I've been taking the inhaler, I've been losing my hair. Anyone else ever have this?

Couchtater, I see you have sleep apea. When did this start for ya?

I started having sleeping problems (probably sleep apea) right after I developed asthma.

I was diagnosed last year after feeling tired and sleepy all the time.

My sleep apnea was caused by my hypothyriodism.

I was diagnosed with asthma about 8 weeks ago. It was right after I started working in a building that had just been renovated. It has tons of stuff in it outgassing such as refinished floors. I also live in a town that has a lot of air pollution due to industry. The rate of asthma here is very high and according to my doctor it's been very bad recently. I have other serious health problems, I didn't need asthma on top of everything else. Plus now, I am worried I am allergic to my dogs.
diagnosed 1/09 with "diverticular colitis" ?? location: sigmoid colon
localized scleroderma & IBS, low thyroid, claritin, advair, singulair, lisinopril, progesterone, colazal, fish oil, synthroid, zoloft, wellbutrin, VSL#3 probiotic, Vit. D
Blood test positive for Crohn's via prometheus ibd serology panel

The Advair will help you in getting stabulized in your attacks. I know what it is to have so many problems that one more is is too much. Ask for an air filter at work, it may work.
