Looking for people who have Sinus problems to share their advice.

I have had sinus problems for probably about 5 years but did not realize it until about 6 months ago. I get a headache on the front of my forehead & on my face (near my nose) everyday which causes me to get nausea everyday too. My tongue looks like one of those cobble stone streets which is from all this post nasal drips. 75% my nostroils will get clogged up so i must breathe from my mouth. I get sharp pains behind my eyes. Im dizzy all the time & my face tingles often. cry

I haven't had medical insurance for 2 years & i don't qualify for government assistance (ive tried sooo many times). I went to a clinic where they told me to use a *Neti-Pot, allergy medication that you take daily, and gave me an RX for a nasal spray* The nasal spray was pretty expensive and im almost out. Im wondering how i should treat this situation. Any advice on home treatments? And what will happen if i do not go see a doctor? Can i prolong ignoring treatment until i can get a job & insurance?  cry Please im open to any advice. Thank you in advance :-)

Try to find a free clinic or a clinic that reduces their rates for non-insured. You sound like you need some antibiotics, steroids, and allergy meds.

Meanwhile you can try some hypertonic saline solution and a decongestant to open you up and drain you. Steam helps too in releasing the gunk.

Don't use over the counter nasal decongestants (i.e. Afrin) for more than 3 consecutive days. This can cause "rebound congestion" and keep the cycle going.
Also try using your Neti pot every day, OTC Zyrtec or Claritin (store brand is fine), Zatidor if you have eye allergies, and Benedryl or Sudafed when needed, like when you feel you're getting a sinus headache.
Keep your bed linens clean, and use your A/C keeping your windows up in both your car and home to keep the pollen out.

I HAVE CHRONIC SINUSITIS. I EVEN HAD THE OPERATION FOR THE HEAVY SINUS CONDITION YOU HAVE. IT RELEAVED ME ENOUGH TO BREATHE OUT OF 1 NOSTRAL. I KEPT USING AFRIN NASAL SPRAY UNTIL I CONTRACTED SINUS-TINNITIS. NOW I HAVE THIS HIGH PITCH SOUND THAT KEEPS ME AWAKE AT NIGHT. SINUS TINNITUS IS CAUSED BY ADVERSE ACTIONS TO DRUGS SUCH AS ANTIBIOTICS OR ANTIHISTAMINES - PROLONG USE.

Chronic sinusitis is caused by fungus, not a virus or bacteria. Antibiotics (fungal poisons) will only exaccerbate the problem. You may want to try antifungals. Tinnitis- also has a link to fungus overgrowth.....

I usually eat hot peppers until my nose starts running. I blow everything out. My sinuses are as a clear as a bell after that for about two days.
