i have tried everything for the chronic all year round sinus congestion, tried ll the allergy meds, antihistamines, dont think its allergy related, and take rhinocort which doesnt seem to help that much, used to help more but using for long time, and when i lie down i have to constantly clear my throat, coz of bad post nasal drip, i also take guainefenisn and tried cough syrups, robittusin, nasal saline, sudafed, etc, and still have so many problems, the coughing really ruins my sleep and so does the congestion, no runny nose, any help or alternative treatment suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks

Hi and Welcome to HealingWell, Radha21!! tongue

Not always, but frequently when you have sinusitis problems and have been through the gamut of med.'s like you've had to do, it seems more like a 'chronic' condition.

A lot of these troubles can be brought on by allergies, especially by perhaps molds. I know you've said that you've tried pretty much everything...but sometimes if it's from an actual allergy, it can be treated with allergy injections, steroid nasal inhalors, etc.

It can also be brought on by viruses and bacterias...Have they ever tried you on a course of antibiotics?

I hope I've given you 'food for thought', Radha and that maybe it will offer you some help.

Hugs, Teri tongue

Radha, I'm happy to hear from you again, but sorry to hear that you are bedridden!  I have to wonder if that's not part of this problem?  The following is a quote taken from the site/link below and though it says 'during sleep', it would seem that lying down might cause a lot of this, as well.   "During sleep, swallowing occurs much less frequently, and secretions may gather. Coughing and vigorous throat clearing are often needed when awakening."
If you get the chance, you might like to read this article, I found it pretty interesting in re to your situation.  I hope it offers you some help!!

I wish you all the best!

If you are bedridden it may be due to indoor allergies. I have known people who only get runny noses and things of the sort when they are inside their homes. My brother used to have this problem and we purchased an air purifier.

Why are in bedridden? If you can't breath maybe oxygen can help but you need to get to your Dr first...........

could be gerd, might look it up as reflux under goggle. it can give you a really nasty sore throat. I have it (mine is just borderline). Management is not as hard as allergies for me since my allergies are very bad.

indoor allergies are the worst. indoor air is the worst. I hope you have a window opened.

Take good care of yourself and I am sorry you are bedridden.

Did anyone notice the date of this thread?
It's very old. Surely radha has stopped posting long ago.

Joan, I've noticed since I had my GERD surgery my asthma has almost vanished.
