"Asthma: Steps in diagnosis"

This is an interesting article for anyone wondering if they have asthma, and what types of tests are used in the diagnosis of asthma.

"If you have bouts of wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath, your doctor may suspect asthma. But symptoms alone aren't enough for him or her to arrive at a diagnosis of asthma."

ok...I've had the lung fuction test and from that, my pulmonologist told me I had moderate to severe asthma.  That was a couple months ago.  I met with him today and he wants me to have another lung function test.

My question is why?  Is it to check to see if the drugs are helping?  Has anyone else had to repeat the test?

Hi Lil! tongue Yes, these tests can be given periodically, depending on the individual patient's needs.  They're given to help measure the extent of the disease and if the med.'s you are taking are performing adequately.

Hope you are feeling better with the new Advair increase soon!!
