Well I am sick again. I'm guessing it's my allergies again. This has been going on for almost 2 months now. Ever since Sept started! Sore throat, congestion, post nasal drip, yellow snot, low grade fever, headache, etc! I have been on antibiotics 2 times already and I take my allergy meds every day (Zyrtec, Singulair, and a decongestant). And it's back again! Has anyone else had a bad time with allergies and sinus infections this season?

Sorry to hear you're feeling crappy :( I rarely get sinus infections but my allergies have been HORRIBLE this time around. My daughter's allergies are getting the best of her though. I believe that she may be headed for a sinus infection. First she was sick with a cold, it got better, then her allergies kicked in and now either her cold is back or a sinus infection. This is all within a 3 week period, poor girl! So no, I don't think you are alone in this :)

Hey Keli927,

The only thing that helps my allergies when I get as bad as you are is getting a Kenalog Shot! It surprised me when I went to get a Kenalog shot for my fibromyalgia pain...Kenalog...and it not only helped my all over pain it cleared my allergies right up immediately! I loved it. While the rest of the family was snorting and making their throat gag sounds I was breathing great! THE SHOT WORKS IMMEDIATELY ON ME.

NOT LONG AFTER THE SHOT I READ ONLINE about THIS MAN THAT SAID THE ONLY THING THAT HELPED HIM WITH HIS HAYFEVER AND ALLERGIES WAS A KENALOG SHOT EVERY 6 TO 12 WEEKS! It was then that I realized why this shot not only helped my fibro and inflamation pain, but also cleared my sinuses! If my sinuses and allergies get bad it makes my asthma worse. Also, eating sugar really flares and makes allergies worse. I get where you are at sometimes and it is a miserable place to be. When you can't breathe it is a scary thing.

Also, have you ever tried Chiropractic care for your allegies and sinus problems. A good Chiropractor can really help clear up sinus problems. I avoided nasal surgery by going to a Chiropractor that totally saved me from surgery. Every Sinus in my head was closed up and an eye ear nose and throat surgeon told me I needed surgery immediately. I said, "NO way are they going up into my nose into my brain fluid!" Someone told me to ask my Chiropractor about working on my sinuses. I did. They don't just work on the back and neck you know. In only two days I experienced proper sinus and nasal drip that had clogged and backed up into my head! It was amazing. I tell everyone about this experience when they have this problem. Hi Jennifer thanks for the inquiry. I am a little better but still congested with a sore throat.

and Susie thanks for the great advice....I will have to ask my doctor about the shot and the chiropractor. I'm willing to try anything!

and thanks red for letting me know Im not alone! (although I hope ur daughter feels better soon!)

With allergiea fluids are thin & clear.Infections show the yellow or green color.

well its been yellow....for a long time and i had 2 runs of antibiotics. and still yellow. so i dont know why it wont go away.

According to my daughters pediatrician (and I'm assuming this would be the same for adults?) is that yellow mucous doen't necessarily mean an infection......green yes. Yellow can just mean that your immune system is working in overdrive to clear it of possible invaders but doesn't always mean it's an infection. In fact he would look at me like I was nuts for bringing her in for yellow discharge and no other symptoms. But since you have other signs as well, it does seem like you have a tough sinus infection.

Another possibility is that some allergy meds can actually increase the risk of colds and sinus infections. I had taken nasonex and I swear it gave me the worse cold to date because I was fine until I started that med. If you look on the leaflet that comes with prescriptions, it might say that certain allergy med can increase your risk and maybe you should discontinue it until you get your infection under control.

hmmm...i never heard that before. thats interesting. i take zrytec, singulair and a decongestant.

Here is the link for side effects to singulair.....it doesn't state that it might cause infection but it does cause sore throat and nasal irritation.

Hi Keli,
as a suferer of pretty bad asthma i can tell you i have always wished it would go so i could be 'normal'- i even stopped taking pe for a while cos i didn't want the other girls to laugh at me! however when i started doing things like football and dancing a lot for fun i realised i can do a lot of what other people can do- it's just a case of taking precausions to make sure your ok.
I always thought people would think my congessedness was gross, but mostly they're pretty ok with it. People who are sick more often tend to appreciate when they're not sick more than others...

I hope you're feeling better by now, and I hope you see this reply! For anyone who has suffered with chronic sinusitis, it is total and complete misery. Constant sinus infections ruined my life-they began almost 16 years ago, for no apparent reason. I had a sinus infection and was on antibiotics about every SIX WEEKS, for the past sixteen years! I kept a journal of every infection, the symptoms, date it started, drugs used, etc....I have had two sinus surgeries, have been on allergy shots for 40 years, could never save up vacation time at work because I used it all being sick with sinus infections, not to mention becoming immune to antibiotics because I was always on them! My life was total misery. I felt as if I just existed, and had no real joy in life anymore, because I never felt well. I have tried everything known to man, coilloidal silver, (drinking it and putting it in the sinuses) all sorts of concoctions from my ear, nose, throat dr., sinus rinses, surgeries, etc.....and by the grace of God, finally found the cure. All this time.....and best of all, it's free! Sounds ridiculous, but hey, I was willing to try everything. It's HUMMING. Just key in "humming benefits sinuses" in a search engine and see what you find! Thousands of articles and studies showing how humming helps sinuses to "air out." Don't understand it, but it's changed my life. It's been five months now without an infection, and that hasn't happened since my son was born, almost 16 years ago!!! Please, try humming....you will still catch colds, etc. but you won't get infected and can still go on with your life!!! Best of luck to you...

Just some suggestions, do you have a good air purifier? That helps me a lot with allergies.
Perhaps you are allergic to some food?
Dust allergies?
Perhaps try some herbal tea?
Also massages and yes chiropractors do miracles!
