Duration of asthma symptoms

Hello, just wondering if asthma symptoms can persist every day, every second of the day and night, for months and months.

I have esophagitis and they say it's from GERD, but the only symptom I get from GERD symptoms is severe shortness of breath. Like I'm breathing through a straw and my chest and throat always feels tight and extremely uncomfortable.

Been taking PPI for about 6 days now but I haven't noticed any change and everyone thinks they're dangerous anyway.

Just exploring other options. I have had my lungs, heart and kidneys tested, my thyroid and my blood, my throat has no obstructions, there's no anemia...

Has anyone felt asthma last for almost a year? I tried inhalers and they had 0 effect.

bump, just looking to see if anyone here with asthma can tell me if it exclusively comes inconsistently as a result of exercise, weather, etc. or if it can suddenly appear and then last for months and months without a second of relief.
