Has anyone here ever had pain in their kidneys or other symptoms of kidney disease from an food allergy?  I've seen some references to this on different websites and I understand how it could happen, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience.
Since November last year I've been having these allergic reactions and have encountered--surprise, surprise--a remarkable number of incredibly idiotic doctors.  Since I have a lot of autoimmune diseases and am on immunosuprresants the allergy has taken a while to get really bad.   It has been hard to figure out, too.  I think it may be corn, but am not sure.  That would explain why it seems almost every food will set me off, since corn is in just about every processed food on earth.  I have seen an allergist, but for some mysterious reason known only to himself, he will not do any testing on me.  The last few weeks I have had more and more pain around my kidneys but my creatinine test (which I have to get every 8 weeks because I'm on methotrexate) is normal.
I will have to find another allergist, obviously, but I was wondering if anyone had had similar woes.  (about the kidneys, I mean.  I have no doubt nearly everyone with any illness has had woes with idiot doctors)

Age: 28
Recently me and my husband have become one of those scary married childess couples with a dog.
My Fun and Exciting Diseases--Ankylosing Spondylitis (2000), Crohn's disease (1994 tho started having symptoms in 1990),  enteropathic arthritis (2000), used to endometriosis but I had all my parts taken out and I am very happy I did, interstitial cystitis (1998), possible lupus (1992)
Medicines--methotrexate, Remicade, Pentasa, Nexium, amitriptyline, Zoloft (they swear it helps with chronic pain but I think they are just getting kickbacks from Pfizer), Zanaflex, Lyrica, MSIR and I know I am forgetting something but I can't think of what...

Hi Heather, I'm sorry to hear you are doing poorly. Normally food allergies typically don't involve the kidneys. How often do you get your blood drawn since being on the methotrexate and Remi? Is it possible to having a reaction to these meds? Corn is a known culprit for allergies and IBD food intolerances. Our bodies cannot break down corn. (yes I have an IBD too) If the doctor won't do any testing, try keeping a food diary. This is where you record everything you eat and the reactions you have thru out the day. If you truly have food allergies, you should start seeing a pattern after a few weeks. Good luck :)
