Hello all, My name in Toni and I am 30 years old, live in Canada.  I was diagnosed allergic to all Inhalents and Food which were tested on me.  I have been given allergy shots for about 7 months and have had a lot of new feelings, both physical and emotional, better clarity and some real life changes.  My question for advice is, is this normal, has anyone noticed changes in mood, feelings, clarity, etc.  I am being somewhat vague because I feel I am a totally different person in a lot of ways and I never knew that this would happen or how bad my allergies were.  Anyway, let me know.  Thanks

I can tell you that I am allergic to and getting shots for the following:  Alternaria, Cephalosporium, Helminthosporium, Pulluraria, House dust, Aspergillus, Hematiaceae, Penicillium, Cattle, Grain dust, Corn, Wheat, eggs, potato, beans, tomato, lettuce, beef, pork, orange, apples, tea, oats, rice, yeast mix-including bakers and Brewers, Soybean, Fish-including cod, halibut, trout, mackeral, lake perch, tuna and salmon, and chicken.  What I am Allergic to and not getting allergy shots for are Feathers, cat, dog, horse, milk, spices-cloves, cinnamon, sage, ginger, nutmeg, and Oregano.

For my whole life I have been tired, moody, unrelaxed, I had not concentration, I was diagnosed with IBS, Depression, ADHD, Chrones, and a hundred different other things. So when I was told I was allergic to all these things I did not believe it, and thought what did I have to lose from trying Allergy shots.  So I did it and for about 7 months I have been getting what they call stabalizing shots, which will end soon I hope and the right dose will greatly effect my allergy symptoms.   During my initial shots my allergies symptoms worsened and then I found relief slowly for each symptom.  I was shocked at my ability to recall, so memory improvement, as well as concentration.  I am not nervous or really moody which I was, and my fatigue has greatly greatly approved.  The worse part for me, in regards to the shots have been more emotional, teh idea that something so simple has greatly greatly improved my life and I have a lot of anger at many people who did not see that my problems as a child and into adulthood were connected with allergies,  at one point I was so low that I even tried suicide, fortunately swallowing 100 tylenol just made me puke the next morning and have unbelievable cramps.  So if you have the chance to try Allergy shots, then do for it.  You have really nothing to lose and all to gain.  Good luck, hopefully I answered your question and I your the first person I ever talked about this with indepth, so thank you.  Good Luck

2 winters ago, i was really really really really , u cant imagine how much pain i was going through, my face was always swollen, pale, with ALOT of redness, BURNING everywhere, hard eye pain, nose swollen, eyes swollen, eyes nose and lip pain, lips always chapped because they would swell up, light sesnsitive, i wud always close lights every where even at school. i went to doctors and got told i had a "depression". 2 weeks later summer came and i felt alot better. i almost wanted to beat up the doctor for this. i stayed outside everyday for at least 12 hours and at end of summer allergies were almost all gone. then started goig back in and same story began again, missed school, when i went to school, i barely slept the nightbefore and had HUGE reactions, sometimes i was just laying down on the floor beside friends and just putting my hands over my face to make the pain go down a bit, and theyd all think i was crazy and or just really sleepy. anyways, i am really going for shots, every fall winter and spring i get hard reactions. i cannot stand this anymore....

Hi again! Well I can say that since I had my allergy shots it took about a month and a half before I really saw great improvement, and every day I still feel some how better than the day before. I have had times of feeling a little like this is all in my head and I am going crazy, however I feel for the most part that things are getting better all the time. I am covered by Canadian Health coverage in regards to paying for the shots given by the doctor but the serum they use in teh shots I have to pay for and are only 100.-200.0 a year. I get 2 seperate shots, one for the inhalents and one for the food and I get them every five days at .07 and .09 mm from each. I am not as tired or feel itchy or get the heat sweats I used to get and a million other symptoms I used to have. I still have problems with picking food, because I hate eating in the morning and after years of being sick I am a little paranoid to retry a lot of food. A lot of mental boundaries I had to knock down and I am still knocking down, talking to others that understand really helps. thanks again

thats fast, they tell us on internet that we see improvement after 6months or 1 year. do u think it will be covered for dust mite and dust allergies or other types of indoor allergies and pollen? im really pissed how ignorant people can be about alllergies. my dad is the most ignorant person i know so far. everynight he comes to me and hes like, its not your allergies making you tinkle. i respond like what the **** are you talking about, i never said my skin tinkled. then i tell him u must have forgoten i am hyper allergique to dust mites. then he replies well theyre arent any dust mites in here. then i just burst laughin(to laugh at his ignorance) and im kinda pissed in a way they think im just crazy because of their arrogance. i tell him there r some everywhere even if u wash it they will still be some tomorrow. then i tell my mom i put things in freezer to kill them. then she tells me so if u freeze everything you will be alright. then i say no.. theyre will be still some residue proteins on it WHICH cause allergic reactions, killing the mites will only prevent MORE residue. anyways they really think im making things up. and i am really not i know what im talking about. anyways, this proves how it can be worst if your parents r ignorant and dont want to listen to you about it. i told them the darn mecications dont help at all, they evn worsen my symptoms. my eyes get 10x drier with patanol, and with the nasal spray, i cough for weeks and throat hurts alot. so i really need shots. and its really crazy, i really think its an extreme case of dust mite allergy, only a  t shirt i take from drawers can make my eyes itch red swollen and nose swelling. any ways, at our meeting with allergist on the 21's, i will make the allergiste explain my parents what are allergies and reactions and what it can do. i hope they will feel very bad for so long and excuse themselves when i was in highschool and forced me to go to school when i was feeling extremely bad to lay on floor and just stay there with my hands in my face.

Hello Everyone! WOW! that is alot to be allergic to. At least you found out the allergies. I hope the allergy shots work good for you. I know what you mean about family members. I have that situation with my grandma about Mold allergies. I take it in what she says, but I know what is good for me and what is not good for me. I try to tell myself my grandma is just not educated in the field of Asthma/Allergies. Anyhow, I have been suffereing in the fall with nose congestion, cough , sore throat, post nasal drip, sinus infections, Asthma, so I can relate somewhat. Have a goodnight. Brandi.

Gee that would really bite the big one. My family, which isn't really big does understand about allergies to a point. I am not living with them but I do explain my symptoms a lot and how I am feeling with my mother and so far she has been supportive. Have you been tested for Dust mites? I was tested by a doctor that inserted needles under my skin and looked at the reaction, those shots had on my skin. My family wasn't to interested in my syptoms before and I think they thought I was crazy for years, and now they are supportive, kind of a wake up call for them. I was on Ritalin as a youth for years and never felt good, then on Clonodine for sleeping, and a million other kinds of medication so I think they feel somewhat bad for doing all that to me and the whole time it was allergies. Its not an easy thing for any family because in teh end it is the simplist thing. I had to tell my family doctor I wanted to see an allergist, after going to a self assessment web site and it telling me to chekc for allergies, My doctor was so against it and told me there was nothing an allergist could do for me and that maybe I needed to see a psychiatrist. So you need to take care of yourself, do it for yourself and let go of other peoples abuse, because they just dont know any better. Good luck for the 21st. Juanno

my allergies keep me from sleeping sometimes, then I get overtired and most times I end up getting sick. I used to get sick atleast twice a month for around 4 days. Any kind of scented perfume, or detergent or anything, makes me itchy and really brings me down. I wasn't tested because they dont test for everything where I go, but I do feel crappy so I made a rule in my house which is no cigs, perfume or any unnatural or commercial smells of any kind. My wife cant kiss me if she is wearing chapstick, because I am allergic to the smell or whatever makes the smell. Im strange though!LOL, I kind of wish I had a huge bubble to live inside. See ya
