Hi there. Im chere and new to this forum. I have a 14 month old baby who has had severe wheezing and has been rushed to the ER 4 times in the past 4 months. Now, the doc has started her on beudecort inhalers twice a day. Also, she has taken prednisone during her most severe flares.
I would really like to know if steroid inhalrers have any side effects. Really nervous about this and would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks chere

My sister in laws little guy has had breathing problems his whole 15 months of life so far. She is real hesitant about using steroid medications too but I have to remind her that yes steroids, if taken for long periods of time, can inhibit his growth...... but which is worse??? Him not breathing or him not growing? Sometimes steroid based medications are a necessary evil. Have you discussed your concerns for your daughter with her doctor?

I would love any information regarding these toxins and how I can reduce our exposure!
I need help - I have a 2.5 year old daughter, light of my life, that had RSV at 7 months, pneumonia at 9 months, pneumonia again one year later, numerous bouts of coughing etc.  She was just diagnosed with asthma (no familiy history) and is on prednisone for 5 days, pulmicort twice a day, albuterol for "emergencies", which we are in.
Her oxygen was as low as 82 last Friday (ER trip), then dropped again to 85 on Sunday (another ER trip) - I have a pulse oximeter at home.
I am just so freaked out right now and would love any insight.  I would love to get her off of the steroids as well and her Dr. recommended Singulair to replace the Pulmicort.  Has anyone else done this?
Thanks so much...
