nono  NO my friend I did not forget ....How could I .........

The love that Jean showed you turned your life around and gave you some better insight to the REAL humans out there that cared and did not just think of you as a Number........

You's have raised a family ,have beautiful Grandkids and  and one of your Grandsons is in Iraq soon to be home this I know will ease your mind

There are not many nowadays especially when the spouse has Alzheimers that have the LOVE and CONNECTION that you and G Jean share and have so graciously shared with all of Healing Well ...........YOU have helped so many ............

You have been here from the start for me and for so many others G Padraig .......you are truly 'ONE Special Guardian Angel " on my shoulder .......

I remember last year that your hope and wish was to have G Jean here to celebrate another Loving Anniversay ............

.....With your wonderful ,loving and constant care..........all on your own you have her here with you still so HE was listening..........

I honestly believe like you that IF you had not taken her out of that horrid NH she would not be with us today ...........
That IMHO was the best all around ......yes I know it is hard being the sole caregiver but you and I know as do others there are SO MANY REWARDS and making memories is so important too .........

For a Man who was never shown love or shown how to love as a child you certainly have come full circle with you with the love of that wonderful wife of yours showing you what LOVE is ........., your kids and GK's .........you are one of the most loving ,caring and unselfish men I have had the pleasure of being able to communicate with and get support from............ :-)

I wish you and G Jean all the best today ESPECIALLY on this 52 year of marrige ........
And for every day after............If I could I would make you and G Jean a beautiful dinner with candlelite and music playing softly in the background ........I pray I am able to hold onto a love as strong as yours  and hers .........

Butterfly Kisses and  CONGRATULATIONS...................
Love
God Bless

Hello Lyn, What a wonderful greeting you send us on our 52nd anniversary. At last I can relax, we made it. Each day was like a snail inching towards this day. One thing I do know, is I'm one very happy lucky man. The experience of love caring for Jean over these years has more than compensated for my first sixteen years of a loveless existance. A loveless childhood of abuse, made me appreicate the wonder and beauty of love. It took a very special girl to win over an emotionaly barren young man who's development was stunted. The power of love can work wonders, it's the fuel that drives me
on. Love makes me happy but also hurts, without it
I'm dead.
We must be entering the thirteenth year of Jean's Alzheimer's. I'm hoping, God willing I'll be able to get on writing the second part of our story. It's slow going at the moment.
Lyn, thinking of you and your Dad on our special day, I still think each day is special. God bless.
May your God go with you. Padraig

Hi, You guys Darren, Lanine and Carol thanks very much for such greetings. I'm afraid once Jean won me over all those years ago, like any wild stray she was stuck with me for life!
May I wish you all, what you wish for youselves in your caregiving. Padraig

Hello to you very special people, I'm overwhelmed by your kind words. Of all days to suddenly developed a sore throat, head ache and cold sweats, yesterday afternoon. It must be flu, by morning I found it heavy going getting Jean ready for the day. Thank God she likes a nap after breakfast, after I cleared up and made lunch ready, I also had a nap.
This has to be out of my system by tomorrow when I take her shopping, I can't afford to be ill. Much as I try to hide from her how I'm feeling, she looks concerned, which in turn has me reassuring her: "It's just a mild cold, I can't kiss you, it's my cold, not for sharing".
Your wonderful posts is the best medication to make me well.
To me, a big part of any illness is a mind thing, together with your kind wishes you've already lifted me up. From the botom of my heart I wish you well and may your God go with you. Padraig.

Padraig,
It cannot be said and celebrated enough, so once I again I tell you CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for both you and Jean and also that you had some of your family around to celebrate with you. When one of my sister's and I planned a celebratory 45th anniversary for our parents years ago now, my Dad was the one who surprised us most. Not one to be in the spotlight, not one to enjoy being fussed over, he absolutely reveled in the glory of that day and the party with friends and family. Not only that, but because he knew that every day with my mom was a gift, that every day married and happy was a gift, he practially insisted we repeat the party scene EVERY anniversary! It was wonderful. So every year, on December 21st, my sister and I, our husbands, our children, the nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchidlren had a party at their home. It seemed they were both delighted more and more each year and were surprised each year that so many people would take time from their holdays to celebrate with them. I believe Dad finally realized that it takes the love, commitment and honesty to keep a marriage happy and healthy and that there were more and more families falling apart under pressures, failing to persevere, and that he and mom were among the lucky ones!
With that said, congratualtions again to a couple that exemplifies that love and commitment!
With my best wishes,
Linda

Padraig . . . its ok if Jean knows you aren't feeling well. I have a chronic illness that is not apparent to most family and friends (hubby knows) . . . but Dad (who had Alz) always knew!! I would go to spend the day with him and relieve mom for a few hours and he would walk up to me all concerned and say "Oh . . . you need a lay down" and he'd carefully walk me to the living room couch and motion for me to ly down and he'd get an afghan, cover me up, and tuck me in. I always allowed him to do this because he seemed to enjoy taking care of me. It just amazed me that HE was the one who I could not fool. Even my mom couldn't tell when I was feeling poorly.

I hope your ails are gone by the time you read this post. I know it is scary to think we might be ill while our loved ones need us. You are a peach!!

Blesings!

Padraig,
I missed yours and Jean's special day, being very busy with my life, but I'll bet every day you get to spend with your sweetie is special to you. I think of the both of you so very often. And one day, when we all get together up 'yonder' I'll be pleased to make your acquaintance in person, yours and Jean's.

I'm grateful that you have shared your story for all of us to learn from... Blessings to you both.

Jeannie
