I haven't posted here lately because I had been doing pretty well with my anxiety and panic problems. My crohn's disease flared though and I am on 30 mg of prednisone a day as well as starting Imuran. I have missed some work due to it and doctor appointments. Well out of the blue yesterday I was fired for missing work. The prednisone has kept me from sleeping for the better part of a week and I'm shaking from it. So the firing did not sit well with me at all. I gathered my stuff while shaking and crying and left.

I have had major depression and the pred kicked in and the concrete pylons looked inticing as I passed them driving home. I tried to tell myself it was just the pred making me think those bad thoughts and I got home. Luckily, I have a great room mate who was able to talk and listen to me for awhile. I was going to go to the mental health place but decided to call my regular doctor to see if she could prescribe something to help calm me down. I can't stop taking the prednisone yet.

I was able to get sleep last night but I am still shaking, and crying a little. I know that another door will open for me but it's pretty hard right now. I have already updated my resume and will start looking for another job. I'm also having some anger over being fired because I'm sick, that may take some time to get over.

I know this was a little long but it's still the short version. Thanks for reading, it really helps to write stuff down sometimes.

Hey bluemeanies,

Need a Hug (((((((((((((((Blue))))))))))))))).  I am so sorry this has happened to you.  I know how devestated you feel and how much you did not need this with your Crohn's and anxiety problems.

You reacted pretty normal as most people I know would be really down and feel depressed too.  It is a blow to your esteem as well as feeling like you have been targeted because you have an illness.  I am glad you went home and talked to your roomie.

Kudos to you for getting the resume updated.  No grass grows under you feet............We are here for you and feel free to vent away, ask for advice or what ever else may help you.

Gentle Hugs,

Kitt

If you want that job back, you could talk to Human Resources....ask about FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act). I am sure you could get a letter from your doctor to back things up. FMLA protects your position/seniority/job while you are ill.

Thanks for the replies. I really don't want to work for those people again. I think what really happened was that one guy died and they had to pay out his insurance, my boss fell at work and broke his leg so they had to pay for it and here I get insurance and have lots of visits and tests and I was the easy one to get rid of. My work was never late or incorrect so I know it was not job performance. I'm trying to put it behind me and move on.

Hi Blue,

I am so very sorry this has happened and I honestly cannot blame you for not wanting to work for them again, although the FMLA could help you.  But you are strong and ready to move on already.  Good for you!!

Stay strong and keep posting; we are here to help and support you with whatever you need.

Update: my boss called and wants me to come back to work so I'm going to give it a try and see how things go. I am having a bad crohn's flare from all this stress and need my doctors and meds right now. I hope it works out but we'll see. Thanks for the kind words.
