Hope all of you are doing ok.
My new Psych doc upped my Eff XR from 150mg which was great and no probs with for 8 months(from the other doc). He upped me to the next smallest increase of 187.5mg. My husband and mom and son all said "maybe you are taking a wee bit too high of a dose". They said I am very "manicky" and hyper(but happy) yet jumpy and pace alot. Like I am on speed. This only once happened to me on Prozac and PAxil. I have been on Effexor for many years and never had any problems.
Is this a common thing? It makes sense.
I have anxiety disorder with panic but no manic depression at all. I am not gambling or doing shopping sprees(ok I bought and awesonme pair of sneaks for my new job from Zappos! but thats is)
Help?!?!?!? :-) confused

Well, I decided to drop back down to my norm dose of 150mg. So the entire house doesn't go insane!:)

Good Morning, sorry I am late today...............

Why did the new Doc up the dose in the first place would be my question?
Glad you made a decision. :-) How is  Effexor as far as weight gain?

Hi Skitt,
No weight gain for me at all from the Effex.
AMBIEN however caused me to make frequent nightly kitchen visits
which I only vaugely recalled the next am. Gained 20 pounds over 1 year while eating right
and working out 3-4 times a week!!!
Lost 10 pounds this month just giving Ambien up. My appetitie during the day also went way down
and I guess the ambien changed my impulses or cravings for foods!
So thanks.
Oh he went up because they all love to go up on drugs rather than RX more benzos.
He really is a competent guy and thank heavens I realized this bad effect only 4 days after the up in dose.
I already feel a biity bit more normal speed. It was as if I downed 5 cups of espresso in the am, then would crash for and hour or two around
the afternoon, then here we go again, speeding away like I was on Adderall(which I am not in need of or ever have taken)

Well, update.
This morning I didn't take the 37.5mg dose and brrokeout in a fine rash and itchy all over both hands and my forearms. I had noticed a couple of odd dots here and there yesturday and the day before, but thought nothing of it.
Apparently I am allergic to the brand name of it, but the generic (THIS dose only) is fine. So you can be allergic to a component in a pill or capsule but not the DRUG.
I now remember years ago the same thing happened after my 3rd day on this exact med and dose.
The 150mg, and 75mg are no problem for me.
Go figure. The doc said good call not to take the extra dose today and to stop it for sure.
They are now all gone(trash compactor!)
There ya have it.
Itchy but feeling MUCH calmer.,
