Hey everyone,
I posted a post on here a couple weeks ago about how i had anxiety over an STD test. Well the tests were negative... but im still having full blown anxiety. I keep thinking about what if they didnt check the tests, or someone was not paying attention when they ran the tests...This whole thing is making me sick and I just want it to go away. Im leaving for vacation to Colorado tomorrow and im not even excited about it because of my anxiety. The people that I have been talking to about this are all people who have anxiety and are on meds for it. They are telling me that I should go on meds because im obsessing over it and i wont let it go. Even if I go on the meds they probably wont take effect for about a week which isnt going to help me when im on vacation. Besides that I went to my family doctor and asked him if i should go on meds because i cant stop thinking about it and he said there is no medication to get rid of obsessive behavior. I have an appointment with my counsler on wednesday but i dont know if i should just call my doctor up today and be like GIVE ME MEDS! or if i should wait to see if my counsler can calm me down. Does anyone have any advice??

Hi kate, you sound like you have alot on your mind!! I know the feeling! First of all i think you should take a deep breath and relax! The test came back negative and thats something you should be happy about and celebrating! The chances of the medical staff making a mistake are slim to none! Not saying that it couldn't happen but not likely! The wait is over and you have your answers, and everything is fine. Now all you have to do is let it sink in! I can understand you being worried sick when you didn't know but now that you do it's time to move on with your life and enjoy it! You should use all this energy your'e using on worrying to get ready for your trip.(smile) Also it is not anyone's decision to make whether you should go on meds but yours and your DR.If you think your anxiety is bad enough that you can't control it on your own and you need meds, then i think you should discuss it with your DR and get put on some. But yes,my opinion is that you do need to talk to your councelor before going on meds because this may be something that can be resolved simply by talking about it and getting a proffessinal opinion! But until then relax honey everything is ok now,you can breath.(smile)GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hello Kate,
I think what your physician was saying is there is not a med to stop obsessive thinking but there are lots of meds to use for anxiety if that is what you want. :-)

I agree with Panike, your test was most likely accurate but if you are really concerned you could go to another clinic and have the test repeated. Just a thought for you to think about.  I hate to see you worry on your vacation.

YOUR tests were neg..yes they have been known to make errors BUT it is such a long shot
Yes you can very well go and get tested agin BUT will that stop you or will you need a third and fourth one ya know .......Not trying to be grumpy hun trying to gt you to know you are OK.IMHO

You need to stop obsessing ( like me about certain things) and be happy and have a great trip

Thanks for the kind word guys.... the biggest thing is the whole HIV scare i guess... ive been actually tested two times since "that night" and both have tests have been negative... I was reading stuff on HIV and i read how people with HIV have stomach problems...well my boyfriend has Chrons disease and I was thinking that it wasnt really Chrons disease and that maybe it was something going on in his system because I gave him HIV. Lyn, you have Chrons disease could there have been an error?? Please anyone help calm me down.....

HI Kate! Are you still worrying girlfriend! Everything is ok honey, stop stressing!(smile) Save that stressing for when something is really wrong, not saying that it ever will be!I seriously doubt that you have HIV considering as many test as you've had but if you're still not convinced have another test done and have your b friend to take one too if you seriously think he was misdiagnosed. But personally i think you guys are fine as far as the HIV thing goes! But you can take the test as many times as you like until you are convinced, but i honestly think you should try ro relax! I wish you the best hon!
