Hey all I don't post on here much but I am kinda stressed out lately as I have a trip coming up.  I am taking a plane and it really stresses me out, i've done it before but felt like I was going to have a heart attack lol.  My trip is wednesday so I dont have much time to dread it any longer so i'm getting more and more nervous.  I've been trying to keep my mind occupied though.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get through the plane rides ( i have to take two each way) or at least make them a little less nervewrecking.  I took a cd player last time it seemed to help but any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kacey

Many people will use a benzo in a small dose to help keep the anxiety low.  Do you use anything now for anxiety?  If not you may want to contact your PCP and get enough to cover your trip.  It helps you relax and sit back, just listen to the music.

Just remember you will be ok, keep telling yourself that.  My mantra is " I am just fine"  repeat it slowly over and over in your head while concentrating on slow easy breathing.

Have a great trip.

Wow thats a hard one, Ive never been on a plane and you would prolly have to knock me out to drag me on one.

You'll be okay, Just try to keep busy till its time for the trip and bring your music and maybe call your doc for some meds to help you with the plane ride to and from.

I too tell myself I am going to be okay when I am painicing ...it kinda goes like this: IM ok...IM ok....IMM OOOkay.....Im OOOOOOOOkay ....ah crap I aint okay HELP! But thats just me , LOL

IM sure you'll be fine just remember to breathe and try to relax, I know easier said than done.
Good Luck!

Hi Kacey nice to meet you! I have been on a plane once in my life when i was 18 and i'm 32 now,so thats been a long time ago although it scared me so bad i remember it like it was yesterday! It was a 4 hour flight to sandiego,of course that was way before i started having Panic disorder! Anyway i was going to give you the same advice that Kitt gave you.Try taking some kind of sedative to relax you before you fly.But honestly even if i didnt have anxiety i dont think i would ever fly again it wasnt for me, but i have an aunt that loves to fly!! She usually takes a sedative too. She's a nurse. Try not to think about it so much and get yourself all worked up because that might make you even more frightend. At least it's not your first time so you do know what to expect. Also if the music helped you last time i would try it again.Who knows with the music and a sedative you might even forget that you are flying!(lol) I wish you the best ,everything will be ok.I heard flying was safer than driving on the inerstate!
