When my anxiety is high I feel very shaken. Hot. Scared. My feels as if it is beating outside my body. I usually feel sick. I cant talk. I usually freeze. Sometimes I cant even move or say anything I am so frozen. Its very scary to feel that way. Its hard for me to think back because I try to forget all about it, but if you are feeling anxiety, fight it, you will make it through! I usually cant talk when my anxiety is up so I know how that is...but just know that you will be ok. You will make it through. The length usually depends on the situation. So, if something bad happened or something it may last longer. But, sometimes I get stressed over school and I have an anxiety attack, but it usually isnt as bad as some of the others and doesnt last as long. I wish I could help more. But, you will be ok. Just ride it out, thats what I have to do. I am not sure what else to tell you, but I hope you feel better soon. I hope that helped some though. Hopefully, someone will come along and offer more.

My throat feels like it is closing up and there is a lump in it, my body feels like it is vibrating, my heart feels like it is beating so hard it is gonna explode, my body tingles, I feel frantic, my thoughts race, I think i'm gonna die. It is all very real to me when it happens. Sometimes a hot shower or hot bath helps to comfort me. Try that, or force yourself to do something that requires your attention like cleaning or a hobby. Excersize is another thing that helps me when a bath doesnt. I hope you this passes quickly for you.

Thanks everyone. Last night was real upseting for me. Especially since I am not diagnosed by a doctor and only by myself. Sometimes I really think Im gonna die. But the warm bath does help. And ofcourse deep breaths. I have to think my way through them. So I think of positive things. After I am able to see a real doctor about this, I will feel so much better. Best of luck to each of you on this day and each to follow.

Welcome to HealingWell and we are so happy you found us.

Brain zaps, also known as "brain shocks," "brain shivers" or "head shocks" are a fairly common withdrawal symptom experienced during discontinuation (or reduction of dose) of SSRI and SNRI antidepressant drugs. The symptom is described as brief but repeated electric shock-like sensations in the brain and head.
The effect is not only confined to withdrawal periods for all sufferers, but also are experienced while actually taking the prescribed medication (although less commonly), and have been known to continue for years after withdrawal from the associated medication.

The phenomenon is most commonly associated with Paxil, Prozac, Effexor, Zoloft, Cymbalta, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro and Ultram.

Again a warm welcome and keep on posting.

I am on Medication but latley I find I get the tingly head feeling. Its awful. Sometimes it makes me feel like there is something in there that shouldnt be. I wonder sometimes if I have a tumor or something making presssure in there. I am always telling myself that I am a nut job....

I used to be afraid of medication 2, and to a certain point I still am...but it did help for awhile.
I just uped my dose today and am waiting to see if I start to feel better soon.

The one thing about medication tho is the withdrawl. I dont know if I would have been so keen to take meds if I new what the withdrawl would be like. If I miss my meds for a couple days the feeling is awful. And I am scared when I do decide to come off them how it will effect my job and so forth.

If I were you I would speak to a doc about your options. If you had a cold would you take the medicine to get better?? Maybe something from the doctor will help you.

Just a thought

take care

heyma,

Welcome!  I've had the tingling scalp and face quite a bit.  Had the dizziness and lightheadedness alot too.  I wish you felt more positive about medication, it can be very helpful and does not make you a weak person, but I respect that there are some who are not comfortable taking meds.  What do you do to help with your anxiety, therapy? cbt?  Just wondering.

heyma,

Yeah the tingling and burning things sounds about right. I get lightheaded and dizzy. Sometimes it seems like the walls slowly move or if im just sitting in the tub im still and the water is rocking but sometimes I feel like im on a ship rocking. Am I crazy? I get the electric pops in the back. And the other day I noticed that the electric pop hit me somewhere else but I don't usually get them. I do not take medicine either and don't want to. I hope and pray that I will overcome this without havng to. And we can. Just beleive and be strong. You are strong for sure if you suffer with anxiety. That takes a strong mind and person to go through what we all go through on here. Things will get better, just think positive and try and think of whats realistic instead of what the anxxiety wants you to think. Keep your head up. hugs

At it's worst I had several paic attacks a day. I was sure I was dying of SOMETHING. I had chest pains, light headedness, dizziness, felt like I couldn't breath, nausea and all the noises around me were amplified. My legs also hurt and I felt paralyzed, like I wasn't going to be able to walk, even though I could. Hang in there! Deep breathing and self talk helps me most.

Okay so I hear about how many of us have these racing thoughts. Please describe to me. Is it like thinking about all sorts of things that dont even matter, and if feels like your thoughts are out of control and you may lose it. That's how I get a lot of times. And are some of the thoughts crazy? I would like to hear what you all experience.

Good Morning,

Racing thoughts are not just "thinking fast." They are thoughts that just won't be quiet, that can be in the background of other thoughts or take over your consciousness, that gallop around in the your head like a carousel gone out of control.

IMHO You sound like you need to learn how to practice relaxing. Hot baths with candles, soothing music, and thoughts of beautiful beaches might do you wonders. Sit in the tub and let your mind reset. You owe it to yourself to let some of these busy thoughts go and bug somebody else.....

Take care and keep posting. We are here for you.
