I am Kitt and I volunteered to moderate this forum as the topic is close to my heart. I am a retired RN, 26 years working in ER/ICU and then as the Nurse Manager of Emergency Services and Respiratory Care. My husband and I have 4 children, one of our boys was killed in a car crash in 1990.
I have A & P and Depression and was first dx in 1982 so I know this disorder well.
I joined HW after being with a strictly Mental Health site as a moderator for 10 months. I felt I needed to branch out and belong to a group that covered medical and mental health issues. The people here have become family to me.
I have always been a care giver but have learned to take care of me now so I have no more guilt over doing something just for me.
I believe I have a good sense of humor and I love to help others. Team work is very important to me. I am proud to be a part of this forum.
I am glad to be here. I am truly happy you have joined us.

Hi Everyone............I am Sue and have suffered from anxiety and panic disorder since I was 13. Am well into my fifties, and when I went thru an early menopause at age 38, my anxiety hit an all time high. Only then did I start receiving treatment. I was dx with Fibromyalgia 4 mos ago after 2 1/2 years of unexplained pains.
So I deal with both now and somedays are just unbearable. But I do get thru them. I have two wonderful sons and a husband. My oldest son is an EMT/Fireman and will be graduating from nursing school this May and wants to be a trauma nurse. He is getting married in Aug of this year. My youngest (they are only a year apart..24 &25) is a minister and lives on his own.
Its great to meet all of you and I do find comfort in meeting people who I can share my concerns with. Have a calm peaceful day eveyone
Tootie,Thank you for the introduction and I am sure you are very proud of your boys. I am an RN and did trauama nursing for 26 years in the ER and ICU. I managed the ER for 8 years. Working with EMT's was a huge honor for me and the Fire Chief is a good friend of mine.
A minister too, you are so very fortunate to have both of your boys doing what they chose to do. You and you hubby obviously raised them well.
I am sorry for the pain you go through but please do come here and post and receive the outpouriing of support from the members.Bless youKitt

Thanks for the intro. Kudos to you for completing your schooling and I think it is very common to feel anxious about your new position. You will have new duties and responsibilities but just take it slow and remember this is new for you. Give your self plenty of time to adjust. You will do fine but remember to be kind to yourself. You are a worthy person and you belong to the elite group of A & P members. There are many of us
It was so heartwarming to hear you say how much you love and care for your Mother. She sounds like a wonderful woman. Bless you both.

Your Buddhism appears to bring you peace and tolerance which is so helpful in the turbulent times we live in.
Whoooo Hooo for the bus. I am sure with hard work and your believes that you will be back to driving a car and overcome some of these phobias or make them manageable.

I am so glad you have found us as we have a whole bunch of members that know what your going through and where you are coming from.
I do understand about the meds and the Doctors. I told my Pdoc I was sick of coming to the clinic as my big day out, I think she does not like my smart mouth............I was just trying to explain it is anxiety provoking to always have people poking and prodding at you.
I am sure you are a great Mom and I am very happy that you have a supportive hubby. That means a lot. Keep posting and know we are all here for you.
