Hello Forumies
Third was the third time my doctor prescribed medication for me, and i thought the medication will never help, i was so crazy, i had chest pains, palpilations, dizzy, all these sorts of symptons of anxiety, then two months ago i started taking my medication (prozac and atarax) regularly and eating healthy and it works, i have been calm for almost three weeks now, and my advise for other sufferers is to take medication regulartly and have a positive mindset and eat healthy.
You know i thought it was impossible for me to be calm, and still i have got another four months for this treatment, but my question is one after this six months of treatment, will my system be able to function without treatment?
Have a nice day

Good Morning.   Remind me why you have only 6 months of treatment?  I did not quite follow you there, I know I just crawled out of bed  smurf .
Glad your feeling so much better.

Well I've heard said that 6 mos of therapy is common for folks stuggling with situational anxiety or post-traumatic type anxiety. Usually the meds are coupled with counseling (CBT) to help you gain coping skills for the future... often times (like in my situation) when a person struggles with GAD (Generalized Anxiety) the therapy is on-going with people on meds for a much longer duration.

My (very non-medical) opinion is that people should take advantage of treatment for as long as they need to for their own situation. You may be completely recovered and ready to be med free after 6 months, while others are on meds for 6 or more years... each individual is different and chances are you and your Doc. will know what's best for you!!

Curious, I'm glad you're feeling's wonderful when meds do there job.  I've not heard of atarax so I'm not sure about that but I have friends who have been on prozac for as little as six weeks and some who have been on it for many years and none of them have suffered in the long run.  It terms of anxiety it is really useful, especially if you are eating well (kudos to you) and getting some form of counselling or CBT as Liz mentioned.

Talk it over with your Doc if you get stressed..I am so glad you are feeling better, thanks for sharing that!

I alone can do this, but I cannot do it alone.
