Tweek, hello, and welcome to HW..I'm really glad you posted. It sounds like you are having a lot of panic/anxiety symptoms there.  The pulse in the throat thing is no fun..I'm not sure what causes it, but I find sipping on warm tea helps ease that "panicky" tight feeling.

How long have you been going through this Tweek? Are you taking any meds for it? Please post back and let us know how you are, I am sure others will be along soon to chat with you..stay with us :-)

Welcome, Tweek, and hang in there! I too have throat issues with my anxiety, and boy does it get set off when my throat doesn't feel just right. I'm still learning ways to keep my fears from escalating, but deep breathing has helped on a lot of occasions. That and telling myself that it feels weird and frightening, but that it can't really hurt me. I usually have to almost chant that to myself repeatedly to fend off the panic.

Tweek, I know exactly what you mean about getting over one symptom and another comes along..good grief - so annoying - makes for variety though lol..but the best part is that it will All go away in time - phew (thank goodness :-) )
My best idea for you is 'don't fight the symptoms' - difficult I know as it can be soo scarey at times - try floating though them, takes lots of practice - 'distraction' works best for me and the attitude of 'oh well..sigh...it's just the panic thing nothing to be alarmed about - I already know what it is..'

Hope you feeling better soon.

Hi Tweek,

How are you doing my friend?  Maree has a good point.  Realistic self-talk: While we can't always control what happens to us, we can always control what we say to ourselves. It's important to keep things in perspective. Talk to yourself in reasonable ways. Ask yourself "how likely is my fear?" Remind yourself that you have coped before during other challenging times. Don't just dwell on the negative but consciously look for things you can appreciate every day.

We are all challenged to find safe and constructive ways to express and share our feelings of anger, sadness, joy and fear. Your ways of experiencing and expressing emotions are unique because you are unique. Stay in your unique mode and keep talking to us.  We care and we support you.
Hugs

Kitt

For the past 2 mornings- I have had this weird hollow feeling in the base of my throat- my heart does not seem to be racing this time- but the weird feeling is driving me nuts. No other symptoms really except a nervous stomach- could it be stress???

Good Morning and welcome to HealingWell.  I cannot say for sure what your feeling but most of us with anxiety are hypervigilant about any physical symptoms.  Could this be anxiety, yes but if your concerned do seek out the opinion of your Dr.

The throat thing is horrible especially when its like a little bit of liquid is sitting at the edge of your throat.
A nurse once taught me that its the muscles becoming tighter in your throat and she taught me a way to relieve it
with a clenched fist tap the end of your throat/ top of your chest and it will gradually relieve it a tad
