Hi Everyone,

I've also posted this on the Bipolar board as most of this is related to the Bipolar, but some of it is also about the anxiety so I wanted all to know what went on today.

I went to see the pdoc today and told him of my issues that I'm dealing with and we are making a couple of med changes.  He's taking me off the Abilify because he doesn't think it's working well enough to control the irritability I'm experiencing.  In place of it he's putting me on Zyprexa, which I'm hesitant about because of the potential weight gain.  I've recently lost 35 pounds and don't want to gain it back.  He said if I started gaining weight we will try something different.  I will definitely be keeping an eye on this one.  He's hoping the Zyprexa will help control the racing thoughts at night and help me sleep, which has been an issue lately.

He's also changing my Valium from 5mg every 4 hours to 10mgs 4 times/day.  Hopefully these things will help.  He wants to see me in a month to see how I'm doing and in the meantime I have to let him know how things are going, especially if they aren't going well.

I hate going to the pdoc as I'm so scared that every time I see him, he's going to admit me to the hospital again.  I know, it's just a silly fear but it sure is real to me.

Thanks all for your support through this, I really appreciate it.

Luv to all,
Wen

Dear Wen,

The med changes sound good and hopefully they will help you.  I hate the pdoc as all we do is try this med and that and in 2 years not a lot has changed.  I still get stuck so I am so hoping your med change works for you.

Thanks for keeping us up to date as you know we support you and want to see you feeling better.  God Bless

Hugs

Wen,

I'll sure send good thoughts and prayers your way for the new meds to work out. I understand your concerns about weight gain. I tried to stop Paxil several years ago because I had gained weight on it, but decided the lesser of two evils for me was being overweight and not depressed. I know these things affect different folks in different ways, so maybe you won't get that side effect with the Zyprexa, and will only get the benefits!

Thanks for letting us know, 'cause you know we care!

Love and hugs,

Wen, I really hope those med changes work out for you (I get being scared of Pdocs too - they look at me and think "cuckoo", I'm sure of it!)..

Try not to worry too much about the weight gain, usually these things even themselves out with time, and you certainly don't need anything else to worry about. nono

Take care with that valium increas (I am certainly no expert) but I have been known to fall off moving objects (as well as trip over kittens) when I've upped any benzo.  My thoughts are with you sweetie, take care and I really hope this eases things for you in every way.  Bless
