Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a good and peaceful day. I am wondering if anyone is or has taken Buspar for anxiety. I have recently stopped taking it after a few years along with cymbalta. I lost my job and health insurance and had to change to prozac, which I don't think did much, I do miss cymbalta, it helped [I think] with pain.  Anyway I moved for a new job and missed a refill, so I have stopped prozac and buspar. about 10-14 days off, I guess.  Has anyone had experience with buspar? I am really undecided about whether to return to an anti-depressant, been on them so long, I don't remember when I began. Any thoughts? Maybe this indecision is a symptom of depression, I just can't tell anymore. Any advice? Thanks!

I took buspat and sellbutrin in the early '890 for 2 moonths (in additions to a few other meds).  I didn't help or hurt.  But the combo is sompposed to work like magic in a lot of people.

Sera Smiles,

I have no experience with either med but I know how you feel about wondering if you would be alright without the meds.

What kind of withdrawal sx did you have from Cymbalta?

I'm not sure- I did have a few horrid days of anxiety that I could not understand. With anxiety- something I don't have to deal with too often- I try to look deep inside myself and find a thread of what may be wrong- so I can look at it, and try and figure it out so I can neutralize it. But during these days nothing like that worked, I was just panicked. It could have been part of w/d from cymbalta. I have been dx w/ ptsd and haven't really dealt with the causes the way I should, I guess.... but I just don't have the strength to begin, because I know what will happen. I just can't deal with my life turning upside down again right now. Also my pain is bad, I do think that cymbalta helped with pain. I am hoping to go back on it soon.

I have been on 60mg of Buspar for over a year now. It works well most of the time, but my pdoc gave me some klonipin as needed. So far so good, unfortunately I've not had too much luck with with anti depressants.

Cymbalta is often used with fibromyalgia pain and pain from depression. Buspar is like the low guy on the totem pole in antidepressants. I took it for a while and it didn't do anything, but like quietpain said, maybe mixed with others makes it work.

Hope this helps some,
hugs, Karen

Karen is spot on Cymbalta has an effect on pain whether it be Fibro or other pain you may experience
Maybe you could talk to your doc about something quick acting for anxiety
I am another that has not had good results with antidepressants.....

Hoping you let us know how you make out
