OK, I am very nervous because today I have to break up with my boyfriend of 3 years.  I have realized that we are not headed in the same direction and it would be worse if we stayed together, although I still have feelings for him.  It is very hard.  I have not slept well because the anxiety is really building up.  I even used Ambien last night to get some sleep and still woke up several times.  Just think about me today, I hope I have the courage to do what needs to be done!

I hope that you are able to make the right choices for your life. This is never an easy situation. Hoping you also get some peaceful sleep soon!

trekker,

I am sorry you have to face this but I am also proud of you for realizing that it is the right thing to do for you.  Anytime we have a break up someone usually gets hurt but do stand by your decision as staying together for the wrong reasons will end in heartache for both of you.

I am thinking of you and praying for you to have the stregth to do this.

Hugs to you
Kitt

I'm sure it won't be easy but kudos for you for not just sticking with it. My daughter has had a boyfriend for 5 years that is a nightmare. Contstant crying because he is mean to her and they always argue. I gave up years ago trying to convince her that there are a world full of people out there and that there is a person that is right for her. She is making a big mistake but it is her mistake to make, not mine. Good luck. You know the expression about the band-aid right. It is better to rip it off quickly than just slowly feel the pain.

SEnding strength vibes for you! It's never easy to break-up with someone---but, it's good that you are realizing this before you are deeper into the relationship (like: marriage)---

Trekker, I'm sorry you have to go through this.  I know how hard it is to break up with someone and it sure isn't easy.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all day today and for the days to come as they won't be easy either.  Please make sure to come here to vent, tell us how you're feeling and how you're doing.  We are and want to help you.

Take care,
Wen

Thanks so much for your thoughts everyone!  I would tell you how it went, but it has been delayed until at least tomorrow because he was not able to meet.  A friend is taking me to see Indiana Jones tonight to get my mind off, but I am guessing it will be another night of tossing and turning.  :"(

Trekker,

ohh that is a tough one..but you are smart and brave enough to pull of this I know..enjoy that movie and try not to lose too much sleep over him.  I hope you have something fun/relaxing to do after the event? A person to vent to (including us of course).  I wish you well.

Dear Trekker,

I'm thinking of you and sending lots of good wishes and prayers for strength your way. I'm proud of you for carefully studying your relationship and then being willing to follow through on your conclusions. You are doing the kindest thing in the long run, that's for sure.

Hugs,

I did it (and yes Meg, girls night out!)

It was very hard and I was very anxious all day.  He seemed to agree that we were not made for eacher other.  Thanks again for all your support.
