i want to shortly tell you my meds history first before asking any question

i was diagnosed with major depression with sever anxiety witout panic attacks but with agorophobia. and i was prescribed 50 mg zolft and 2 mg orap and it made me functional in a few months i started work and started going far from my home even to another cities and i said ok i am fine i dropped the meds with doctors permit and i got back on track with anxiety depression and agorophobia. i restarted the meds 50 mg zoloft and 2 mg orap and i got fine again in a about 5 months and i dropped again and i was back with anxiety depression and agorophobia. 5 months ago i started taking only 50 mg zoloft and it has been 5 months and i have still mild anxiety with no panic attacks that i have never had by the way. i dont want to use orap again because it is very dangerous and i cant think. my question is
why i have still anxiety and mild agorophobia after taking zoloft for 5 months
why i cant increase my dose because if i do i feel worse anxiety and chronic pain
why i have social phobia after 5 months

do you think meds not working or this is because oraps withdrawal with i stopped taking the last dose about 2 months ago.

do you think zoloft is not working for me?

what is the problem? besides i have no sex drive no sex life no job cos i cant go to far from my home and totally broke with a baby and housewife.

i would be happy if you could help me a little thanks

Dear robertshaw

Welcome to HealingWell and the Anxiety and Panic forum.  I am not familiar with "orap", is it an anti-anxiety?

From reading your history it feels to me like you do best when you stay of the meds.  Have you talked this through with your physician?

Each  person reacts differently to the AD's so it is hard to tell you what may work for you.

I am so sorry you are going through this tough time.  Have you ever had a therapist.  They can be very helpful.

Please know we care and keep posting.

Kitt

Hi Robertshaw and welcome. I hope we can help out a little here. I've never heard of orap either.  Is that a generic name?

I guess the first thing I would say is don't be afraid of taking meds, as long as you do it under a doctors care, you will be ok, and they can make the world of difference with your recovery.

Perhaps the Paxil isn't the right med for you if upping the dose causes more anxiety and pain.  As Kitt suggested it may be worthwhile talking about changing to a different med and maybe seeking the help of a counsellor.  It sounds like life isn't being very kind to you at the moment.

Please let us now how you go.

orap is a antipsychotic. i want to keep taking zoloft i cant switch to another med. zoloft worked for me 3 times before. it should work again. this orap thing is making the complications. i know if i start to take it today i will be fine tomorrow. but i will not take it. because i dont need it. it was a big mistake of doctors to put me on orap at first i never needed that med but made me dependent and having terrible withdrawals. i dont care what is going on to me i can take it but the thing is i dont have a dime in my pocket and bills keep coming. that is making me even more intense. nobody is understanding me. my wife is ok. she is helpful but my father is making me crazy. he thinks i am just fine. he keeps complaining about me. keeps telling me this guy is successful that guy is making this money. you are home everyday you are not working you are a loser. i am really tired.

Robertshaw,

Your father sound like he not being a very supportive person at the moment.  You may need to tune him out. We DO NOT choose to have this happen to us.  It is NOT YOUR FAULT. Please believe me on that one.

If Zoloft is working for you then do stay with it, but maybe you could try another med - an anti-anxiety one to help it along( not giving up the zoloft, just helping).  I don't know anything about orap, but if you get severe withdrawls, best to stay far away.

I am so very sorry that you are going through this, but you are not alone.  We have all been judged and treated as "loser" for this problem and it's just not right.  You are a wonderful guy, doing his very best and working against a powerful odd.  Believe that you will come through this.  We wiil help you. We get it okay?

Hugs my friend

my 2 cents: the reason why you still have anxiety after months of meds is because meds do not cure anxiety. Therapy and facing fears is the only cure for this illness.

You can use the crutch of meds and medicate forever,b until you treat the problem and not the symptom, it will never go away.

Have you ever been to therapy?

Welcome to HW Robert
ALL have given good input IMHO
You can and should be able to tell your dad that HE is not being helpful at all
YOU need his support not his constant putting you down
Maybe he thinks this is his way of 'Tough love"
I am not sure but I think it is more than harming you

Also there are SO many self help techniques available
Check out Resources thread for some realy good ones put together from the members and Mods here.......has WEN"S name at end up above

NO one is here judging you at all only wanting to help you and in conjunction with the right meds ..as was said you may need a med change
Therapy can be a really good thing to do and is helpful to so many

Is there a possibility of ODD jobs around where you are that you can do for a few bucks and see if that makes you feel better .......
Does your dad have a few odd jobs that he would be wanting you to do not necessarily for compensation ( but that would be ok) but to show him you are not trying to be lazy
Your wife is not working and you have a baby so how are you making ends meet now...
IF you dont mind answering...........
REMEMBER there is NO judgement here at all ..........

I like the rest have never heard of ORAP ......
Sounds like you really are not wanting that drug
yet they want you to take it ........

I feel bad that you are kinda stuck here but there are ways
Baby steps to get out of this ..
Really there are ...
Read thru some of back posts and see how far SO many of our "Family Members " have come

PLease keep posting and I do hope you have seen the caring and support there is hereI know the others have great input ........
