Hi all,

about 4 weeks ago I started taking a low dose of Wellbutrin (75mg per day) for my anxiety and mild depression. As of right now, it's definitely helped my mood and I've been really happy, confident and much more assertive than usual. Lots of friends/family have commented that I seem like I'm doing better and that I seem more chilled out. That being said, I still have lingering anxiety that seems to fluctuate throughout the day, although it hasn't reached the panic stage in over 2 weeks. Still, it's kind of annoying and sometimes makes me feel like I can't sit still. I just want my mood to be good AND to have minimal anxiety.

I'm considering talking to my doc about weening down to 50mg per day to see what happens. I know that I"m already on a sub-therapeutic dose, but I'm also EXTREMELY medication sensitive. My question is, to those of you who have used Wellbutrin have any of you used this low of a dose and gotten results? Or, could it be that my body is still adjusting and I just need to wait for the anxiety to subside?

May I ask if you were on a different AD prior to Wellbutrin?  That may be a clue to why you feel some anxiety?

Thanks
Kitt

I didn't have good luck with Wellbutrin at all. I tried it more than once thinking that maybe I just didn't give it time. It never worked alone for me. Didn't matter what time I took it, I was wired. I had my very first panic attack with Wellbutrin. I was only on 150mg and according to my doc, that was a small dose. Maybe your doctor can add something to your Wellbutrin to help the anxiety. I didn't think Wellbutrin did much for anxiety so maybe your doc can add something....Paxil, maybe? I know in low doses, Paxil helps with anxiety.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses. Stkitt, over the winter I tried taking Celexa which I had to go off of after only a week because it increased my anxiety to the point where I was freaked out all the time. I wasn't on another med until last month when i started the Wellbutrin. Maybe I'll talk to my doc about adding another drug for the anxiety, or just trying something new altogether that treats both at the same time.

Good Morning.  My Pdoc feels Cymbalta at 120mg is best for me and Trazodone 100mg for sleep.  I guess it works as well as any.  I am not euphoric, dang, but I make it through.  What I miss is my old enthusiasm for getting out and doing things.

Good luck and I hope you find a good mix for you.

Hugs
Kitt
