Good Morning Everyone!

I haven't been here in a while because I have been feeling a little bit better but lately I have noticed a weird speech problem. I am rearranging the beginning of some works with the end of others and rearranging the order of words as well, such as instead of saying is "this near where so and so lives" I will say "is this where near so and so lives". Has anyone experienced this?

My anxiety has been much better but this is worrying me. I had these symptoms when I was on my Lexapro a couple of months ago but I haven't been on it for months and it went away for a while. Now I feel like I can't concentrate and my anxiety is coming back. Any input will help. Thanks!

lalalal,
Good morning to you! I have major speech problems when it comes to anxitey. Its like my brain and my mouth are not connected. I get dislexic with my numbers too. Like (I'm a cashier at a grocery store) this woman wrote a check for 31.52 and I put it in the register as 31.25. I get very dislexic though nobody believes me. And I really mix up all my words. But usually I try and not talk to anyone during a panick attack because they'd really freak out. But no, your not weird. I bet it happens to more than just me and you!

Is there anything coming up or has anything happened to perhaps trigger your a/p to start in this way ??

Sometimes subconciously we have things going on that are triggers and we dont realize it til it comes out full blown IMHO

I am wondering if this may be the case with you
OR are you just starting to be self conscious about talking??
Do you talk fast and perhaps you are saying things outloud before you are meaning too ??
Many ppl including myself have gone thru this and for me it was the start of anxiety and then it led to other medical issues which then had me DX with another DD
THIS IS NOT saying you have a disease so dont take it like that lol plz

IMHO your brain may be working in overdrive .......
Like I said this is quite common IMHO even with ppl that dont have a/p
I know my mind and mouth are not always in same working order...........lol
I honestly dont think you are alone with this hun

Have you thought of talking to your doc about this ...........

I am just throwing out a few things here
I really am
I have no professional opinions at all about this just off the top of my head kinda thing.....
Does any of this touch home with you ??

Let me know plz
Am sure others may have some ideas as well ........LYN

I've been under a lot of stress lately, and not sleep as much so maybe that is triggering it? I really think it is the speech problem that is bringing on the anxiety, if that makes sense?

I have been self cons. of the speech problem since it happened when I was on the Lexapro, it just made me worried that it may be something more serious. Although it's not all the time, and it doesn't seem to get progressively worse, so I guess that's why I haven't gone to see a Dr. about it yet. Guess I just don't want another bill that my insurance won't cover!

Thank you for your help!

HI again
So perhaps it is the stress and if it has not gotten worse over time a doc's visit is prolly not needed
:-)
BUT I would encourage you to seek a doc's input IF it starts to get worse ya know

There are ppl that click their tongues non stop have no idea they are doing it
Or my brother is so bad for shaking his one leg up and down so much and sometimes so fast it will literally lift me off the couch

So I guess what I am getting at is that amny have lil things that the anxiety will make come out worse and at different times not all the time

I do hope you will keep us posted and let us know how things are going for you

I too have experienced this. It is not so much when I am having a panic attack but a few days after a bad one. Sometimes I am completely fine and still screw up my speech. Once I do, it seems like I do it all day. I hate and feel like I am going nuts or maybe even having a stroke.

I haven't experienced speech problems the way you are describing, but I do feel like I have trouble getting words out when I am panicking. I have to really concentrate on every word that comes out of my mouth and sometimes I feel like I am slurring my words (kind of like when you've had too much to drink).

Good Morning,

I would advise anyone who continues to have speech problems after your panic has subsided to see you physician to make sure you do not have a medical issue going on.
