I have a highly responsible and stressful position that I seem to be able to deal with most of the time.  But today someone is pushing my staff to get something accomplished and the individual who works for me doesn't want to do it quickly.  I have to tell her to do it quickly while taking guff from the other office because it wasn't done earlier.   It caused me to become very anxious all of a sudden.  I got that tight feeling in my chest and tingling in my hands.  I only take my anxiety med (Zyprexa) every few days but I think I may need to take one today even though I took my last one only yesterday (it's actually prescribed daily but I find I don't have to take it that often).    I hate confrontation (even though its required in my job) and I hate being caught in the middle.  Now this thing is going to be on my mind for the three day weekend!

Georgie,

If you feel like you need your meds today, take them, it is prescribed daily, so it's okay to take it.  It sounds like you are having a very high stress day and you may just need the extra calm of the meds to get you through.  Try to use calming breathing and know that your symptoms, as uncomfortable as they are, can't hurt you!  And I hope that you will be able to let all of this go and have a wonderful long weekend.  Hang in there, I hope it gets better quickly for you!

Georgie,

Hi there and i am sorry you had a high stress day.  May I suggest if you are prescribed to take the med daily that you do take it as you may be bouncing around the amount of medication in your system.  It is usually best to take a daily med everyday and one that is order as necessary when you feel you need it.
Zyprexa is a drug that is used as at a maintainance dose so you may be causing your anxiety to fluctuate with your self dosing technique. Reference: PDR, Pocket Guide, 7th Edition.

Take care

Georgie,

I am sorry you were placed in that situation at work. I too hate being caught in the middle, but it's inevitable in a work situation. Just trust in your own judgement and remember you are not responsible for other people's behaviour. I think it is okay to take the higher dose of zyprexa short term, but do check with your doctor, as Kitt said it is a maintenance med, so it may be wiser to take it every day even if you don't fel you need it. I hope you have a peaceful long weekend!

Georgie,

I don't have advice to add, but wanted to thank you for your post. You gave me insight into what my procrastination may do to my boss. I'd never thought of it, but now I plan to be more considerate of his position.

It's so great on this forum that even when you feel low, you may be helping someone else. You definitely helped me today!
