Hi,
I'm curious if anyone experiences increased panic/anxiety attacks during monthly mensus.? I've been finding that almost every other month around the same time I feel anxious for about a week straight. My panic attacks to be more frequent and alot worse than normal. This is normally when I feel like something bad is going to happen to me, like I'm going to die. This is the time I don't want to be left alone with the kids" just in case". I always have a plan on who is at home or who I can get in touch with in a hurry if I need them. Can hormones effect this? Durning these times I have this urge to pinch/ or cut myself just to see if the pain takes away the panic. When I was a teenager I used to cut myself to this day no one knows this( except anyone who reads this) I don't do this now I fight that urge so much. Can anyone add light to this? confused

Rocal,

Some of us have noticed increased anxiety at certain times of our cycle. Mine is usually about a week before it starts, probably around ovulation. Sometimes, it'll get super high during the 2-3 days right before, but that doesn't happen every time, thank goodness.

If you search through this forum, you should find some older threads about this same problem.

Thanks percycat I went back and found a thread from Mar. I'm really glad I'm not crazy. They talked about birth control to control the anxiety I've been on so many different kinds of bc they made me insane. I would literally contemplate suicide. I would be driving and think about how easy it would be if I drove my car of the bridge I was driving on. My gyn said right now it could be worse because I had my son 2 yrs ago and he said that it can take up to 3 yrs for a womens hormones to get backl to "normal". I remember with my daughter it was a rough 2 1/2 years of hell til I wasn't so anxious. I guess I have to ride it out.

Everyone that has written I can so relate. I have only about 1 good week out of the month, but every other month is worse than the previous month. I have a suspicion it's maybe the side I'm ovulating from.  Does that sound stupid?

When I had regular cycles, my anxiety was much worse the day or two prior to starting and would be worse for the first couple days.  Now my anxiety is just bad all the time and I can't blame it on my cycle any more.
