Earlier in the Month,I was Prescribed 2 MG Bar Xanax.Soon after starting the Medication I began having problem with Incontinence during sleep.I'm not waking up in time to get to Bathroom..It isn't a full fledged bed wetting, but I do wet on myself and the Bed while trying to hurry to Bathroom..It doesn't only happen at Night. It also happens if I take a nap during the Day.

It can't be Stess-Incontinence.I've not had a Baby and I don't wet myself when I laugh, sneeze or cough..I'm uncertain if it's the Xanax,or the Stress I'm currently under.Tomorrow the 26th will mark 18 Month's since my Dad died.Since his death,I have contended with 2 greedy vultures (his Sister and one of their Sister in-laws)..

Am having an extremely hard time getting Dad's final affairs settled in a fair and just manner (when I'm his sole Heir!).I'm having really rough financial hardships and am also very concerned about my Physical Health.

I don't think I have a Bladder or Kidney Infection.I've never had one and I'm not experiencing signs/symptoms of Infection such as burning,Blood or pain..

As a Kid,I occasionally wet the Bed,but grew out of it.As a young Adult,I began having problem with occasional Night time incontinence, however was going through a period of high Stress.

It is self-limiting..it happens..stops and doesn't happen for a long time, but starts again..

I have dreamed I needed to go and that I was sitting on the Toilet, but wasn't and wet the Bed!When I'm nervous or cold I have to go more often..

My next Appointment am going to mention to my Doctor..it happened some when I was seeing my previous Physician, but he didn't say what was causing it..

Earlier Today,I read that Bed-wetting,Nephrotic Syndrome,Urgent need to Urinate,Frequent Urination,Painful or burning Urination and Urination during the Night are all symptoms of Stress.

I know this much:It is embarrassing and wish it didn't happen!

Sydnee10... Oh hon, I wish this wasn't happening to you. How upsetting! and how disruptive . How can you possibly have a good nights sleep.
The only suggestion I might have, and please don't be offended by this... I think this is what I would do if this were happening to me... at least until my doctor comes up with a better med or better solution. ... I think I would put a plastic draw sheet on my bed, cover it with another half sheet that is easy to change... then I would probably put on a depends just for night time... but then I am 51 and have had 2 babies... and I do have stress incontinence... so have to wear a panty liner during the day in case I laugh or sneeze. It's a royal pain.
I do hope you find a good solution soon... and please don't be embarrassed ... we've all experienced plenty of accidents ... in bed... in private... in public... I could tell you stories.
But for now... know that I am sending positive thoughts your way... Keep us posted ok.
Here's hopin this new doctor takes this seriously .... MAKE him listen.. and let him know how distressing this is to you.
Love,
mary

Sydnee,
Hey girl. I too have dreamed I was sitting on the toilet and wet the bed. Even after I've been married. I try to just laugh it off, cause it is kinda funny if ya think about it. But dont be embarrased. We have all wet the bed as adults at one time or another. Well I'm pretty sure everyone has there's just some that wont admit it. But it could be your Xanax. If it makes you really sleepy it might be making you sleep too hard to wake yourself up and go to the bathroom. Let us know how things are going and what your doc says. Love ya!!!!

Mary,
It is very embarrassing and humiliating! It didn't happen last Night,or Today when I took a nap.
I will probably take your suggestion to use plastic on the Bed.I will soon move Dad's very nice Bedroom suite from his House to mine.I don't want to have accidents on his Mattresses.
Didn't discuss with my Doctor at recent Appointment because it didn't start happening again until after my Appointment.
I am keeping Fingers crossed he takes me seriously.I don't want to be seen as another poor individual with weight issues and Panic Disorder/Agoraphobia who some Doctor's toss aside..
I really don't want to change Medication..at least not at this stage..Xanax gives me courage to try and I've been doing well getting out (that is when I can!)..-->> lack of Transportation

Sydnee,

I went through a period several years back when I was fixated on my bladder. I had to make sure I went half a dozen times before any meeting or event that might last more than an hour with no let-up. Always afraid I'd "lose control," even though it never happened. Then it faded away; I don't remember how or when, but I'm glad.

I do get very rare occasions when I'm walking to the toilet and start to feel those important muscles relaxing a bit too soon. No stress incontinence, though - just random. Probably from that pesky chronic yeast in my case.

I hope your evening is starting to turn your low day around. You deserve to feel comfortable and upbeat.

Sydnee,

There is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is a common problem, we just don't talk about it as much as we should. You are on the right path, talk to your doc, be positive and no shame now you hear?!!!

Hey Thirstyforchrist,
Wonder why we dream we're sitting on Toilet and wet the Bed?Oh my goodness if I were Married and this happened I would be BLUSHING RED!I'm taking a potent dose of Xanax and might be sleeping soundly, but seems I'm also restless during sleep..tossing,turning and dreaming..

Percy,

Bless your Heart!I can't imagine how tormenting that must have been for you.My problem isn't losing control whilst awake only when sleeping..I've not had Children yet and do Kegel Exercises,so would think I had "good" control..do you have Candidiasis or Systemic Yeast?I had a pretty long talk with a Cousin and expressed what's going through my Head and feel somewhat better,but...

Hope your Weekend has been super thus far

Sweet Sydnee,
My husband just laughed it off with me. We are very open and comfortable with eachother so it wasn't really that big of a deal. The thing was, when we first got married we had to stay at his parents house until we could find one. (We were 17 and 19) So I actually wet his parents bed. It's really funny to me now though, I dont think he ever told them thank God!
And dreams are crazy especially when taking A/P medicines. I guess that could contribute as to why we dream we're on the toilet. Just try and stay humerous about it. Humour gets me through it all. And please dont be embarrased, it is kinda emabarrasing but we all love you here. And you are definately not alone my friend. I hope you have had a good day today and that you have a great one tommorow! Love to you!

Hi Syndee 10 Dave z here.              My wife had this problem (cystocele) fallen bladder.  She saw a gynecologist who performed surgery to sew the bladder up higher.  This corrected the problem.  Of course this may not be the cause of your problem but it may be something to look into.  http://www.umn.edu/urology-info/cystocel.htm

Sydnee,

I am sorry to hear you are having this problem.  Truly, you shouldn't be embarrassed.  We all have little "embarrassing issues".

I first must ask, what dose of Xanax are you taking?  You mention you are on a (and I quote) "potent dose".

I'm not sure of your age, but a good many women suffer incontinence issues (yes, including me).  You don't have to have had children to experience a problem.  I've never had kids and have suffered with urinary incontinence since my early 30s.

I would definitely speak to your doctor about it.  There are things you can do to alleviate the problem or make it a lot better.

If it makes you feel any better, here is my most embarrassing moment with my urinary incontinence -

Family is all together celebrating a summer holiday at my twin sister's house and they had just gotten this huge trampoline.  Well, I figured what the heck.  Hadn't been on one since high school (and I'm mid 40s now).  So, I got on and started jumping and sure enough - accident city.  I got off the trampoline and ran into the house and had to change clothes.  Well, needless to say the entire family quickly figured out what had occurred and I chalked it up to "thank god finally everyone knows and I have no more secrets to keep".  Turns out my twin sister doesn't get on the trampoline because turns out she has the same problem.

I don't leak or wet the bed but when I get nervous I have to urinate every few minutes, especially if I've drank any coffee.

Whenever I go to my doctor and he orders a urine test I can never urinate so now when I have to have a urine test done I urinate in a big pill bottle, stick it in my purse and when I go in the restroom where they do the urine test I pour my bottle of urine in the urine cup.

Kind of gross isn't it? yeah

Sorry you have this trouble and with your life, but your post reminded me of something I felt once... when I dreamt I was on the toilet and had to go, though I woke up and wet the bed... long ago of course I'm just saying, check with the doctor?

Sydnee,

Wow, what a great response and lots of ideas.  I think looking at the site Dave posted is a good idea.

Well it could be stress, or perhap you should check the side effects of the med as it could cause relaxation and the incontinence.  Please know as we age many of us have this problem.  I spent the weekend at the cabin and in the middle of the night could not get into bathroom.........someone else was in it.  I went back to bed and told my hubby......."got to hgo, got to go, got to go right now", sweetie that he is, he said well I am  sleeping, good luck. cool
It was a close call..............LMBO.  Tell you physician you need to know what is going on and don't let anyone blow you off.
Hugs

Rachel,

It is so nice that you and your Husband have an open Relationship. Is practically unheard of in some Relationships Today. When this "problem" began,I wasn't taking Anti-Anxiety Medication..didn't have Neurotic Anxiety,Panic or Agoraphobia yet,but was under a lot of Stress and Job pressure.Hasn't happened since posting my thread!

Thank you..a nice Day wished for you too :-)

Dave Z,

Thank you for the link..I don't imagine it is a Cystocele as I've had Womanly exams and even a D & C since the problem began and surely if it were something like a Cystocele my Physician would have detected or at least noticed..I was 20-21 when the problem started..

Ocean1,

Thank you..at least nobody other than my Sister Friend knows about my embarrassing problem! She understands because she's had the problem herself.

I take 2 MG Bar Xanax 3 times Daily, but had the problem at age 20-21..

I'm 35 and unhappy to report will turn 36 in less than 4 Month's!

Oh my gosh I am certain you were VERY embarrassed with your Trampoline accident even happening in front of Family.I would have ran and hid my Face in embarrassement!

Isn't it amazing what affects 1 Twin can or does affect the other?I think it'd be cool being a Twin :-)

Purplepetals,

When I get nervous period I have to go more..my late Step-Mother was a big Coffee drinker and was always using Bathroom..guess Coffee makes the Kidney's "act"..

I wouldn't Urinate in an empty pill bottle for fear leftover residue from Pills would still be inside, but I understand your reason for doing so..

Kitt,

I read the insert to the Medication and didn't read anything about relaxation of Pelvic Muscles or incontinence. It would seem logical though..I mean afterall Xanax does relax and calm the Body..

I'd say,"Hubby to the Couch!" tongue :-)
