Hey all,
I saw my therapist today and we dealt with my eating disorder.  She said it was a full blown eating disorder and that I may need to see a specialist.  So she gave me the name of a doctor at Vanderbilt and said he specialized in eating disorders.  So I am now a little freaked out by all this.  For 1, I have never driven to Nashville alone even though it's just an hour away from where we live.  And this doctor will know more about eating disorders which scares me because he will know all of my secrets.  And he is a man.  I feel more comfortable talking with a woman.  My therapist said he could adjust my meds and get me on something that would help but that he wasn't a psychiatrist.  I am terrified of all this and I dont know exactly why.  I guess I just need some support.  Thanks yall.  Love

So I talked to my hubby and he was very supportive and said for me to do whatever I needed to do. How sweet compared to how he would have reacted in the past. I am so thankful that he is really making changes in himself. We have been working hard on our marriage since we got back together and we are so much stronger now. It only could've happend with God. THankyou Jesus!!! Love to all!

Rachel,

You know I am on your cheer squad! You have done the very best thing, admitting you have an eating disorder is the first step in recovery. Try not to focus to much on the gender of your therapist. Sometimes it's good to get a male POV.

I'm so happy that things are working out with you and your hubby. Just remember that you always need to take care of mom first. Please keep us posted, and try and keep that three meals a day going. It does wonders with anxiety! Trust me (from an old bear!)

Rachel,

I'm so happy about your hubby's really supportive behavior. THat's wonderful that he wants to help you be stronger through all of this.

I used to be a little leery of seeing male doctors for my annual woman's exam, but got over it when I moved and got a new (male) doctor who is great. I think if this specialist doctor knows his stuff and has some decent "bedside manner" that you'll be glad you went to him and it won't matter to you any more that he's male. And if he doesn't know his stuff, it doesn't matter whether he's male because you'll look for someone else, regardless.

Hang in there and follow your local doctor's advice. It sounds like you've made a really important step. Good luck, sweet friend!

Hey thanks for all the support.  I really need it bad.  I am nervous.  I called the office but no one was there so I haven't called back yet.  I will try again monday. I've got to go to bed tonight, I'll write more later.

So I still haven't called the doc because my home phone wont let me because it's long distance. And my cell phone has been dead. I am just so not wanting to go. My therapist said that I would have to see a nutritionist and everything. I just keep thinking. I'm not that bad. I dont need help as bad as other people do. I am not underweight. I am at a normal weight. Which I hate. I really really hate the way I am now. I know that I have unhealthy goals and stuff but I never reach them. So why should I waste this doctors time? I dont know. I just really dont want to go to him.

Rachel,

Take a leap of faith and go to the appointment,  let the Doctor hear your whole story as you have told us and see what he/she thinks.  It is easier to face your fears then to hide from them.

It will make you stronger and I feel you will be able to make progress if you know for sure if you do have an eating disorder or not.  Then you have the problem identified and you can work towards healing.

Bles you

Kitt
