I again am going through a severe bout of anxiety and panic over health. I've so many health issues that are really minor but to me they are major that I have gone back to the throws of looking everything disease wise up on the internet thinking I have this horrible disease or that. I had a full blood workup the other day and it all was normal.

However, I have been on my menstrual period for 36 days now, never ending, have had to take two rounds of antibiotic to knock out a UTI because of a nasty bacteria. I was given a bag of iv fluids the other day for dehydration which I am searching the net for a answer to that and what I see scares me. I still have on and off headaches, and feel skin flushing still even though I think I feel better maybe some. I do not produce any sweat, and thinking back I haven't probably in about a month, maybe longer, just thought the skin flushes were from hormones being out of whack.

I have gotten scared of taking another round of antibiotics for my infection due to the fact that it can cause this horrible bacteria called c-diff which if left untreated can be fatal. I think I have that even though I have no symptoms of that, went to my doctor to get a stool container so they can check that, because of paranoia, it can cause dehydration. My acid reflux has rared its ugly head again due probably to having to consume cranberry juice which is acidic and probably has caused the chest discomfort and right below around the upper belly. I have gone through this before several times and it eventually passes.

The tightness in my chest is probably some from the reflux, I am belching air off my stomach a good deal, but some of it is also tension. My chest sometimes hurts pretty bad but heart issues were ruled out. But bad dehydration can cause chest pain but mine was mild. But still this has all really increased my stress and anxiety levels. My hands stay cold. Thyroid was checked also and was normal.

I am alone every evening of the week from 4:30 until 11:30, and these negative thoughts consume my mind 24/7. I have gone back to just wanting to sleep and am very irritable so many times. I have no Xanax and don't want to try to keep begging doctors for Xanax when they don't want to give it to me.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi,

No need to apologise, it sounds to me like you deserve a good vent. Suggestion number one: Don't look things up on the net! I refuse to let myself do that because I can self diagnose about 15 new problems in under an hour. Your blood work came back normal. Try and hold onto that. Anxiety really loves to play games with us, try and remember that you have been given the all clear by your doc.

Have you tried taking "ural" or a similar alkalanising medication? You can get them over the counter and they really help with UTI's. I would reccomend that you do take the anti-biotic, if you leave it then the infection could travel to your kidneys.  Again, try not to worry too much about getting a "super-bug". It's a very rare possibility.

I know what you mean about having to ask doctors (who won't supply) xanax. It may be worth asking for an anti-depressant or a longer acting anti-anxiety med like valium. I really am sorry you are going through all of this. Please let us know how you are going. hang in there.

Hugs,

Meg

Yes, yes, yes - run from the web! It's one of our worst enemies when we have health anxiety. I do what Meg describes too, and it took a couple of months most recently before I could convince myself that researching symptoms on the web wasn't so helpful as asking my doctoc, "What do you think we should check next? When you say it isn't disease X, what symptoms are lacking in me that make you say that? I'm worried that I might have disease Y; if I did, how would I feel that I don't feel rightn ow."

His answers to these kinds of questions were so much better than what I got on the web. It wasn't that he was smarter or just physically there. It's that my reassurance didn't need to be "Oh, gosh! I might have (insert disease) - what do we do?!" I needed to hear, "No, you don't have (disease) because you'd feel (this) and (that) with it. You've never said to me that you feel those things, right?"

In other words, instead of helping me match my symptoms with disease, he helps me match the symptoms I *don't* have with the diseases that I can't have then. It really did help!

Good luck

Thanks nervymeg and percycat, unfortunately, now I am paying attention to how my stools look, a darker green color yesterday morning and this morning, of course, when you wipe, it looks black which makes me think of blood. I did an over the counter EZ Detect colon disease test which picks up hidden blood, I've done that twice, and both times were normal. I followed instructions completely. But unfortunately I do not feel well in my left side, the flank area of my side. I don't see how something could be in my kidneys when I've been on two rounds of antibiotics, and did not wait months and months to go to the doctor for that.

I'm curious if anyone else's stools that look green in color show black when they wipe??? They were not that way before yesterday. I had eaten something green in color the night before but I don't think that would stay around that long would it??? I feel like my guts are all acidy from the amount of cranberry juice I've been drinking to keep my kidneys and urinary tract flushed. So I guess I am going to have to go back to drinking mainly water as I think the acid has caused a problem, even though I've limited the cranberry juice every day.

HI
You have been given great input already
Just wanted to try to calm you down a bit about the green stools
YES they can produce a couple of days later as green if you ate something green

I truly believe you do need to stop going on the net
IT is our worst enemy at times especially with those that suffer from Health Anxiety

Take care

Hi, Sorry you're feeling so blah
I'm a lyme sufferer and know how hard it is to take a lot of abx. And to worry about c diff. There is a way to ward of c diff and you won't have to worry about it.
You can take something called s boulardii. It's marketed under the name Florastor, but it's cheaper if you just buy it in it's natural form called S Boulardii. ANY health food store carries it

It's also IMPERATIVE that you take a good quality probiotic when on abx. If not, then you're asking for trouble.

Just so you know, you are prob having what's called a herx reaction. When one herxes on abx it's caused from biotoxins from the dead bacteria, anxiety can and does go out of control when this happens.
You need to detox from these biotoxins in order to keep the anxiety down. Again, it's imperative that you detox

Here is some info on herx reactions.

I hope this helps and if you need more info, feel free to email me or come over to the lyme board and all of us abx addicts can assist you more with the anxiety.

I don't like this feeling I am having in my left side. It is not painful but feels really tingly and a little tender. But my entire pelvic area feels irritated that way and tender due to the female issues I have been going through. The one thing I have not liked about yesterday and today is the slight spasm type ache in my lower left side when having a bowel movement, wondering if that could be the muscular activity from my colon when passing the stool through???

And I am so tired of the female area problems with the bladder tenderness still and the irritated sensations from 40 days of menstrual bleeding right now, and I am having back issues in the mid to low area of the back. My entire pelvic area is always tender so if I had any colon/rectal flare of colitis I would not know it. This stuff is driving me crazy.

I am constantly dwelling on this stuff 24/7 and gone are the days where I would take things in stride and not be concerned about it. I think ever since I started going through this perimenopause stage my emotional state has changed. I wish I could go back to the way I used to be and not let anything bother me.

Just fuels my anxiety and panic more and more.

Hi, Wit's End.

I'm just catching up on reading your thread and wonder how you're doing now.

It sounds like you have so much on your plate healthwise. I can't give much advise, but the stool you describe from a week or so ago doesn't sound unusual to me. Mine is often all kinds of colors (sorry, gross), and the green usually does go with black simultaneously. Grape juice or other iron-rich fruits (cranberries? I don't know) definitely turn it black for me.

Anyhow, I surely hope you're feeling better now than you had been.
