hey guys, thanks for all your support and friendly words.  I am really in the tough of it right now. I noticed my anxiety getting alittle better today but I am still anxious and getting very, very depressed. I am questioning everything right now. Like why be happy you are 38 and you are going to suffer with this forver. I keep thinking about after the military how am I gonna get a job feeling like this, I am worried about my blood pressure and health because of all thye constant anxiety. It is weird to think that 7 weeks ago I was doing very well. Now as soon as an anxious event comes up all my old fears come flooding back in. I got over this before and it usually takes three to two months to get straight. Maybe that is just the pattern I am following, I just know the older I get the more hopeless and scared i get. Can I still feel calm again one day, I sure hope so because I am hurting like hell right now.....

Dear Curt,
I am sorry you are still struggling.

How Can You  Manage Stress? Change Your Mindset. Develop hardiness—an appreciation for challenge, a commitment to living and a belief that you have control over your life. This can lead to greater resilience.

Talk to friends, family, counselors. Ask for help or just share your feelings.

Evaluate your coping responses. Replace those that are negative (e.g. excessive drinking, smoking, procrastination) with positive responses (e.g. planning ahead, taking care of your body, facing problems).

Look for the positive aspects of each stressor.

Laugh—it's good for body and soul!

Keep talking to the members here and know we are all here for you.

Bless You
Kitt

Curt,

I'm glad you're savvy to how the pattern has played out for you in the past, and I surely hope that's what it's doing this time. Knowing that you've overcome the anxiety before can at least give you some cognitive sense of hope, even though you might not feel it in your heart yet. Lots of folks on here are good role models for how we can keep fighting it and can have some good days, even when it doesn't seem they'll ever come back. I believe in the laws of probability and figure that if all these folks can get through it, there's every chance the next person - dear *you* - can too.
