Just recently starting taking 20mg of Lexapro as prescribed by doctor to settle some anxiety issues that bring forward physcial symptoms. This is my fourth day and have a upset stomach, am very tired and I have been yawning a lot. I was wondering if anyone has experienced these same symptoms before? How long will they last? Should I reduce to 10mg or ride it out?

Hi GCutter,

some of the side effects of lexapro are nausea, tiredness, gas, diarrhea and yawning. So these should go away. If they become really bothersome and don't go away I would contact the doctor.

Hope that this helps some.

hugs, Karen...

Hi GCutter,

They sound like the usual suspects when it comes to new med side effects. This period usually lasts 1-2 weeks, if it continues longer than that or the symptoms get worse, please see your prescribing doctor. You may need a lower dose or a different med. I hope these side effects clear up soon and that the Lexapro works out for you.

Hi GCutter,

If and when you do decide to change doses, please make sure you discuss it with your doctor. He/She will know whether any other side effects might result during the change, and it's always good to make sure that the info about your meds and dosages in your medical records is correct.

Good luck!

Hi,

Yep these are the exact same side effects I had with staring Lexapro, for me they certainly did go away, and it has been very beneficial for anxiety.

Good Luck!

Good Morning,

Each person is different and the sx you described sound consistent with gettng onto the med.  I used Lexapro for a short time but did not experience any side effects.

Take care and keep posting.

I was put on 10 mg and I had all of those same symptoms. I started taking it 30 min. before bed and that seemed to help being overly tired. When I took it in the morning I was overly tired through the day.
