I been on ambien for years now every at 20mg dose. been a chronic insomniac for 9 years with 8 years of anxiety problems and on top of that i suffer with ulcerative colitis and seizures and depression, and popping a few lorezapams to enhance it, and now i have memory problems and became very forgetful. and struggly with learning new stuff at work and also the inability to concentrate and think, also make my brain feel absent all the time, any of you experience this on ambien? what about lost of hair like going bald from it? any suggestions are appreciated .

Good Morning and welcome to HealingWell. My sister took one dose of Ambien 2 nights ago and had terrible nightmares and woke up after one hour completely confused.  Now she only took the one and it was most likely just a bad reaction to the med.

I have been told by my Pdoc that any of the Bezodiazepines may cause memory loss so it may be the lorezapams causing your brain fog.

Just my 2 cents worth this morning.

Ambien makes me feel really weird and I refuse to take it ever again. I almost never get a good night of sleep with the stuff, and the next day I will feel weird and not like myself.

Instead, I've been drinking kava kava tea before bed, taking magnesium and GABA supplements. I usually get a better night sleep taking the "natural" route.

Hi Unixgeek,

Welcome to HW. I've never taken ambien, but I have been on and off quite high doses of benzo's over the years and at times I can feel like I have a bit of cotton wool where my brain should be. It usually goes away once I lower the does. Do you mix the ambien with anything else? That may be causing memory loss. I'm not usre about the hair loss, that would be a Q for your doctor!
