Hi guys. I have been through a lot lately. My dad was dx with pc cancer 3 months ago, and passed 3 wks ago. A couple wks after his dx I started to get REALLY bad migratory bone and joint pain, sometimes it would hit an area for a minute other times it pulsates. With the onset of this I started to have extreme joint cracking, now I get muscle twitches everywhere. I have had TONS of blood work, an MRI, ultra sound, etc ALL OKAY The only think I am left with is nerve testing to rule out very scarey diseases.

I definitely have been anxious. I am anxious over my dads death and now my health issue. I had an anxiety issue yrs ago when  a friend passed away-it was a horrible time in my life. I am very jumpy, and wake up often in the middle of the night gasping for air, sometimes I feel I cant breathe in all the way too. This part I know is anxiety.

This is far fetched, but could anxiety possibley cause extreme pains, joint cracking and muscle twitches everywhere?

I have joint cracking. I thought it was caused by arthritis (which was cause by my butt problem -- probably Crohn's). Really stiff when I get up sometimes takes more than 30 minutes for me to be steady on my feet. Next time you get the joint pain, try bending forward and see if that relieves the pain at all. If it does help then lookup Spinal Stenosis.

I can relate with the anxiety your having after your Father's death. Don't wait for it to get worse get some help for it NOW.

Hi again King :-)

Anxiety and stress can cause many symptoms.
I've had major anxiety for over 25 yrs but my joint cracking only started 18 months ago.
My lyme dr believes it's lyme related, but really who knows.

Do you exercise at all?

King could you possibly have Fibromyalgia? Your symptoms could very well point to that. Something to think about.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

I excercise daily. This literally seemed to come on very quickly. The pain feels like its sharp hits to my boes/joints-not my muscles. I have been tested for lyme through igenex which I should get today--the thing is I live in SF so its likely not that. I have thought of fibro and am considering that, I hear stress can bring it one. The thing is, I dont have the tender points. Mine would be feet, ankles, shins sometimes, spine, wrists and fingers....

Can anxiety cause something to be released that would cause joints to crack? I just am at a loss now

Wellcome to HealingWell. I am so sorry about your Father, my Father died of the same thing. My sympathy to you.

Your sx could be caused by stress but also by many other disorders.  I would like to suggest you see your physician and get a good physical, tell your Physician how you are feeling emotionally too.

Hope to get to know you better.

Have you ever seen a Rheumatologist? That is who diagnosed mine. Fibromyalgia is a migratory pain ailment that moves around alot. My hands and feet hurt alot, but will also get alot of buring pain in my spine. But I also have osteoarthritis and maybe that might be whats going on with you too. Once again a Rheumatologist is the person who diagnosed me. I too have the popping joints too. I wouldn't worry too much about the popping, I would be more concerned with the pain. Good luck!

I have had a physical and boat loads of blood withdrawn. Also an MRI of head and lower spine, a UC of abs, a mini colonos-you name it -its been done. Everything aside from nerve testing which is next.

Oh saw two rhuem, one looked at me and said I looked good and said stress, the other said it could be a virus. Ugh. Saw a neuro too that dismissed me because I looked "young and healthy"

Which your Fibro do you get full body muscle twitches? I mean I have been getting them non stop all of a sudden. It will hit my leg, then my chest, then my butt...little twitches that move around. It all seems to move the pain etc.

My pain can pulsate in one area (feels like it is deep in my bones/joints-not muscles), or its a sharp quick stab

Sound like fibro?

Prayers to you. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I got the cracking and popping in my knees plus terrible joint pain from fibro.

God bless you.

p.s. sometimes a traumatic event can bring on fibro. Mine came on after I got a large blood clot in my leg after my hysterectomy. It was a scary time.

My joint pain started before my anxiety.  The joint in my left ankle began to hurt, I had MRI and x-rays etc. saw several different doctors, with all of them telling me that they can not find anything wrong.

Then my anxiety/panic attacks started and I began having pain near my sternum, sometimes it even pops.  Then the pain in my left ankle radiated into my lower left foot.  Again the doctors say they can't find anything wrong.  I to have been to a Rhemetologist and she said I appeared normal.

I had never thought that my anxiety could be causing this joint pain, but if others are experiencing joint/muscle pain, maybe it is one of the wierd things that anxiety causes.

Good Morning to All,

We do have a Fibro Forum that you may want to read through and post to the members asking about the Fibro and how they were dx and sx of Fibro.

It is a great forum and lots of good info found in that Forum.
King, I am so sorry you are going through all of this pain and stress.   Many warm ((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))).
