Hi, I'm new to this forum (but not to HW). For the last half hour, I've been feeling a little dizzy and lighthead, have had some trouble breathing, sweating, trembling legs, and overall weakness. I ate a snack just to make sure I wasn't weak due to food intake/nutrients, but it didn't help. I know that when I get stressed I start scratching myself, and I've been doing that for the last week or so. I've been plagued by the past and constantly worried about the future.

Hello ComedyDork

You stated you are experiencing "feeling a little dizzy and lighthead, have had some trouble breathing, sweating, trembling legs, and overall weakness."

Yes, you could be having a panic attack but you could also be having a medical problem.  I would call your physician and ask to talk to the triage nurse for futher orders as to what is best for you to do.

If it is panic attack remember it is self limiting and it cannot harm you.

Please call now.

Hi, welcome to A/P forum,

What you describe does sound very familiar and the worry you speak of could be contributing. Let's hope this passes quickly and does not return. If not we here are full of advice. Take gentle care.

A little while after I posted, I cried a little and had some comfort food, and then I felt better. I used to get panic attacks in high school whenever I was stressed, but it's been a couple years so I guess I forgot how it feels.

Thanks.

CD,

When I have anxiety really bad I cry alot, then I wash my face in cold water.  The tears return but I keep letting them out as bottling them up does not work for me.

Glad to hear you are better.

New to chat /forum I have had anxiety since childhood I can have no syptoms or worry for years and then BAM it's back well it's back now I had to get on meds - I have this fear I will lose my mind or what if I start to hear things or what if and they go on. THen comes the breathing and tingling and loss of reality it stinks this disease but I know it will pass logically BUT I fear the next panic attack I think thats where I get stuck is the what ifs and fear . today I called so many family members in my panic and they don't understand so they ask why are you having this ? whats wrong with you? I tell them those questions do not help can you just alk to me and tell me I will be fine. so a few are now learning the right things to say to me. I just feel so embarrsed that I have this and that I call them. anyways I am glad to find this site.

HUGS

Welcome, reesgrandma!

I'm glad you've found us, as this is a very comforting place to be, with others who understand what you're going through. I think it's good that you know what you need from phone calls to your friends and family during an attack, and that you feel comfortable telling them that. It may not always work perfectly, but knowing what techniques are successful for you is a big step in the right direction!
