I have been overcome with Anxiety lately. I had a HIV scare. Not from every test i have done has come back NEG. But i am still feeling pains in my Armpit areas like lymphnodes. My dr put me on xan. Can Anxiety be making me have these pains?

hello. well, i think if your tests come out negative you have no reason not to trust them.psychology is complex and if your alittle paranoid about being ill than maybe your mind is having you feel sick.

Anxiety can mimic almost every single legit illness out there.

But get a full work up with a Dr just to make sure

worried,

Yes, anxiety can cause you to feel pain, it is real pain to you so keep working on letting go of the scare you had and move on with your life now.

Pratice staying in the moment and do not worry about the HIV scare, your physician has cleared you.

Focus on what’s right in front of you, push all other thoughts out of your mind. Stay in the moment and you will do well.

Armpit pain really is a symptom of anxiety - you might notice it in your groin area and neck too. I promise its nothing to worry about. I think it has something to do with muscle tension... but who knows. But you're definitely not the only one feeling random armpit pain - I do a lot when I'm at my worst.

Good Morning Worried,

I can not tell you for certain what is causing the pain.  Perhaps a complete physical with your physician is called for here to make sure you do not have a medical reason for the pains.

As far as what benzo is better, it depends on the individual.  What works for one does not always work for another.  Ativan is good for short term use.  Many members use Xanax for anxiety and most seem to find it useful.

Take care and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Kitt

Worried,

Your posts really remind me a lot of my health anxiety. When you're dealing with HA, now matter how hard you try, or what good advice and test results you get, you just can't shake the fear that you genuinely have something physical wrong, something that might even be catastrophic. I took me a long time to fight my HA down to a manageable level, but I'm sure it will rear its ugly head again in the future; that's how anxiety goes.

I think it's great that you're getting information about what might be going on with you, or what things are possible. Be careful not to overidentify with everything you hear about, though. It's really easy to get scared by information and especially by hearing or reading about worst-case scenarios. Make sure you get a good workup from your doctor, and make sure to ask him/her all the questions you have. It helps me to make a list - I usually have so many.

Good Morning Worried,

I am so sorry your week end was bad but you did not make your little girl ill.

Please remember that your powers are not that great - kidding.  You must stop the constant worrying or  you are going to get worse and you will get to the point where you crash and burn over an issue that is going to be OK.  nono

Stay in the moment, the here and now.  Leave yesterday in the past and fight the anxiety.

Keep talking to us.

Kitt

Hang in there, Worried! Kitt is right - remind yourself that you are not the cause of your daughter's illness. I hope she's getting to feeling better now, as that will take a bit of weight off you as well.

And I wonder whether you and she have both been coming down with something that made her ill but just made your lymph nodes sore. All your tests have come back negative so far, and that's a very good sign.

Hi worried,

Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you will get through this. Blame is a wasted emotion. Especially when you have no need to feel it. You will get through this, we are here to support.

Hi Jmith, great input and advice! Welcome to HW. You really do need to make friends with your mind to get through this.

Hi Worried2002,

I hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. Anxiety can cause some strange physical symptoms or cause dormant ones to flare up. Try and stay in the moment and not obsess over the test. That said, I know it's not easy. Know we are here to listen and support you, please let us know how you go. My thoughts are with you my friend.

Meg

(((Worried))) I know how you feel about the anxiety... but it's great that you're testing negative. Let's take some deep breaths and know we'll be okay.
