I have one more health situation (on top of the usual CD and the recent pap test that will hopefully be normal next time) that I need to deal with but have put off.  I have developed a tiny cyst and need to go to the dermatologist.  I feel silly about how it got there... it started when I was going thru a bad patch with my CD and lying around a lot watching TV... I had this bad habit of folding my pillow under my neck and the lower part of my head on the back... and one day there was a bump when I folded the pillow under my head... pretty sure this little nuisance is the result of my laziness but of course worried about having to deal with it.  The truth is that it's been there a long time (I won't say how long) and I have ignored it, but I know that's an irresponsible thing to do and want to deal with it.

In spite of any anxious reaction I might get, I'm really thinking about asking my parents first whom they would recommend as a doctor for this.  I haven't seen a dermatologist in years, since I last had a mole removed or something, but they've both had a number of little abnormalities removed/treated at different times in recent years.  I want to get this thing healed and move on.

I've got to figure out how to face problems more constructively than this... expecting the worst all the time is getting old fast.

Has anyone else ever had this particular kind of skin problem?  Can you tell me about your experience?

Thanks,
Betsy

Have taken a step this morning and looked up contact info for dermatologist whom I saw previously... I'm going to call during lunch and make an appt. I'm tired of feeling sorry for myself when help is there for the asking.

Kudos to you Betsy.  I am proud of you.  I put things off too because I just feel I am always having my head examined turn .

I have been fortunate to have one of the best Dermatologists in MN.  I have had to have some procedures but I have never had a cyst.

Make that appointment and just do it.  I have lost sleep over worrying but in the end I have survived.

Hugs to you

Kitt

Betsy sorry you are having another health issue to deal with, but hopefully its nothing and everything will turn out right. Definetly make that call today and get an appt, I am sure it will help ease the anxiety some. Remember deep breaths, and take one day at a time.

Good luck,
Gail *Nanners*

Thanks Kitt... I know somehow that I have to stop failing to take care of myself because of fear of the outcome. I know I'm not alone in hating it when weird stuff happens to me (or at least stuff that seems weird!) and I need to work this out. Your encouragement is appreciated.

Thanks Gail for your kindness.

Thanks Kitt... actually, after I posted earlier, my mom popped up online to say we'll be having dinner this evening... I'd swear that she and my dad have seen a new doctor for their skin care concerns in recent years, and I want to find out why and who it is in case there's a reason before I call the other guy we used to see... always best to choose a good one! Then, I can make the appt and get this dealt with ASAP.

Thanks for the hug especially, I really needed that today.

A quick update... I am beginning to pull together the information I need so I can move forward with getting care for the cyst. My sister is helping; her brother-in-law had one on his neck last year and can offer insight into the treatment he received. I am telling myself that I am not alone and that my health is worth getting the help I need.
