Has anyone's body gone back to normal after IBS or will it just be a constant way of life?  I can barely digest anything without irritation so I am wondering if the system will become quasi normal again.

Hi Happiness,

I haven't said welcome yet..so welcome to HW! I have IBS and I honestly don't know the answer to this one..let me know when you find out!! I have only had IBS for about three years and I'm slowly going through tests to screen for crohns..ulcerative colitis..allergies etc. I truly hope to find some relief.

I do know of one member who got over her IBS and now lives without it..so it can be done. I think managing anxiety is a big part of it. have you beeen tested for anything else? Agein, welcome,

Meg

Hi Happiness,

I use to have 6 to 12 BM a day for 4 to 5 years. It's only recently that changed to once or twice a day. I'm not sure what it was ... IBS, CD or UC ... but it's in remission.

I'm pretty sure not eating for a week while depressed is what gave my system time to recover. Personal I don't recommend depression as cure though ... harder to get rid of than IBS.

Welcome to HW,
