I am highly intolerant of caffeine. it sets the wheels in motion for AP. i was just wondering if im the only one? i cant have tea, coffee, coke, pepsi, ice tea or dark chocolate. it sets my heart out of rythm and gives me severe palpitations. its put me in hospital, hooked up to and EKG on more than one occasion.
so as i write this, im sipping my Decaff chai tea. since i cant have caffeine, i go herbal instead.
i also cant have guarana or ginseng, even natural stimulants like that make me very ill, and bring on waves of anxiety with heart beating irregularly.

anyone else?

hey Luc, im 28 and would you believe i have NEVER even tried red bull? my friends drink it constantly, as do my students, but ive steered well clear of it. im just far too sensitive to natural stimulants- or all stimulants for that matter.

take care my friend,

im proud of you!   yeah   thats so refreshing to hear. and you're right about the addictive personality- best just to avoid it. i was never much of a huge drinker, but i havent touched alcohol since i was 21. not a drop. its just not worth it, especially if you are on meds, and its a depressant, alcohol makes you feel worse in the long run. you sound like you totally know what you are doing. i only drank out of peer pressure, and also to impress my much older boyfriend (back when i was 17). i dont even like the stuff. i have had addictions to other things, but im doing better now.

Take care, stay strong, Maz XX

Hi Guys,

Well I don't smoke, I don't do any rereational drugs, I don't drink
except my Diet Coke, leaded.  It may not be good for me but if I have to give everything up I might as well be sitting in a rocking chair at the Home........ devil

Caffienne = stimulation to the central nervous system..who wants that??!!

I gave up coffee and all stimulants about 10? months ago and although I miss my morning coffee I am so much better for it. Every so often my brain takes leave of absence and I get a coffee after a bout of insomnia..and I suffer all day from shaking, jitters and very high anxiety...

I would reccomend anyone with A/P give it the big heave ho. De-caf ain't that bad..honest!

Thanks for the advice Megs. For most people, moderate doses of caffeine — 200 to 300 milligrams (mg), or about two to three cups of brewed coffee a day — aren't harmful.
I drink 3 cans of diet coke per day, 46mg/ per 12 ounce can  which equals 138 mg.

I don't drink caffeine coffee in a restaurant but only decaf so at my age, I will continue to enjoy my diet cokes.

My hubby drinks decaf Diet Coke and sometimes I will have an extra can and go to the decaf.

That's my story and I am sticking to it............. smhair
Hugs

I have the same problem though not to the point of going to the hospital. Beware of pseudonephrine it makes you feel caffeinated.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Ginger ale does not have caffeine in it.
