I know what Boxing Day is but when is it? The day after Christmas? Could you explain to others in the US why it's called Boxing Day? (I don't want to say what I know, might be wrong!)

well in australia its sweltering hot, so big family dinner inside with the air con on, coins in the christmas pudding, whoever gets the coins gets good luck- im half Macedonian and we have a little toast that we do at the table, and we eat Macedonian food as well as traditional stuff. its cool to have some cultural traditions- and its nice to have the whole family together, as we have lost 3 family members in the last 3 yrs-
then the men go and watch the cricket on tv...... typical....
This time of year I am the Christmas Princess which means I get to bestow special favors and gifts on others. I usually start on December 1 and some of the things I do is send out little notes to remind people I am thinking of them. I join my daughter with get little gifts for St Nick Day.
I have a couple of online friends that live on very limited income and I will pick several and send them a gift of something just for them. I love to surprise friends.
I talked to all my children and we all agree to help out the ones in need as we are warm and safe while many are sick and homeless.
I picked ornaments off the Christmas Tree at the Hope Lodge and yesterday went shopping to purchase the items they needed. I chose plastic hangers for the guest rooms, throw blankets for the patients to have spread around the commons area as many cancer patients are cold. My favorite was buying bingo prizes for their weekly bingo night.
I also brought them a large glass candy jar and filled it full of our secret family recipe (M & Ms in green and red tossed with dry roasted peanuts) They look cute in the glas jar. And you did not think I had talent..........
Christmas Eve to my MIL at 12 noon for all of my hubbies family and our children are there too. Lots of food and love and prayers of thanks for another safe year.
Church is at 11:00 PM
Christmas morning brunch at my daughter's at 11:00 AM. The presents are opened there and we have cut way back except for the 5 year old. She loves presents. After brunch we play games and those are always thought up by the granddaughters. When they were small they just wanted to put rubber binders all over my hair...............much easier then playing games.
Our oldest and family call us on Christmas day and we get to talk to everyone. Christmas night is reserved for just me and my hubby......................we need to take a nap......whew!
Boxing day is similar to our Black Friday shopping day.
Happy Holidays to all.
