 OKAY
 Take a Cup of sugar

Great Idea Big Sis

This is one that is inexpensive and easy.

Tuxedo cookies

1 package chocolate cake mix

½ cup butter

2 eggs

Hershey's Hugs/Kisses

Mix first three ingredients and roll into 1 1/2 " balls. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Press one Hug into the center of each cookie as it cools and allow to set.

Okay!

1 package of colored marshmallows
1 package of chocolate chips
1 stick of butter or margarine

Melt the butter and chocolate chips together. Take it off the heat and stir in the marshmallows. Shape the mixture into logs by rolling up in waxed paper. Chill to harden. Slice to show the pretty "stained glass windows."

Yum!

tongue  Yummmmmm!

You all have made me so hungry reading this, that I had to go eat :) lol

It's funny because my family has been eating the heck out of chocolate chip cookies and homemade coffee ice cream lately :)

Here is a good Lasagna Al Forno recipe that I'm making for Christmas this year :

Ingredients:
3/4 lb. whole wheat or whole wheat-soy lasagna noodles
6 cups Tomato Sauce Italian Stlye
1 cup cottage cheese
1 cup Ricotta
3 cups grated mozzarella and Swiss cheese (10 oz)
1-3 bunches spinach
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup Asiago cheese

Directions:
Cook noodles in a very large pan of boiling, salted water until almost tender: they will cook more in the oven, absorbing liquid from the sauce as the do, and if they are slightly under cooked at this point, they'll hold together better while you are assembling the dish. After draining the noodles, it can be helpful to spread them out on a towel or waxed paper, or submerge them in cold water.

Grease a 9"" X 13"" X 2 1/2"" baking dish. Spread a thin layer of sauce in the bottom, and then a layer of noodles, lengthwise. Keep the best noodles for the top and use broken ones in the middle. Each layer of noodles should lie crosswise to the one below it.

On the layer of noodles, spread the first layer of filling: one half the cottage cheese/Ricotta, one fourth of the Parmesan/Asiago ; then a coating of sauce. Layer the noodles again, then the spinach and most of the mozzarella, and sauce. More noodles, another cheese and nuts layer, and your prettiest noodles across the top. Add sauce and the rest of the cheese across the top.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 45 minutes (if your ingredients were hot, the shorter time will be enough); then let stand 10 minutes before cutting-otherwise it will be too runny to hold together, and too hot to eat.
Serves 8.  I need to either triple or quadruple this recipe :) lol
Much Love, Hugs, Peace & Comfort :)
TTYL,

Sam

This all sound delicious.  Another way of saving money on food .........our Walmart has a day old bakery rack at the back of the store, they kind of hid it. skull

My daughter found it and she stops by frequently to snatch up the good stuff. They have breads, muffins, cakes, cookies etc for about 60% less then the day before.

I found the rack..............so now we laugh at who got the best deal.

Coupons are back, use them but only buy items you need.

devil ,,,,NOW I know ya think I am on my last brain cell but here goes and it does work
'I make easter Bunny cakes et all'
YOU have to use imagination but alas real produce
YOU will need a long and wide piece of wood or platter

.......3 cake mixes.....( fluffy ones ( Betty Crocker I like using)
Just for these ones like the Easter Cake and Santa other than that I will use no name .......

Bake as directed on box...........ROUND BTW.........

Now you get the one to make Santa's Head and face putting icing ( different / appropriate colors )..........Making sure it is

Use second one to cut out around the full bottom ans around the sides making a kinda slimmer moon .........for beard........Color that appropiately

THE 3rd cake is for you to take a glass small one and put in the midle of cake and get the Ball for his hat
Now you need to use imagination and IF I can do it all here can .......to make his hat and dress him appropriately
Do not forget his accessories
RED cheeks and beautiful blue eyes...........

NOW you can use all your motherly instincts or your silly ones and get to dressing Santa's head and walaaaaa
YOU now have a Santa Cake ...........well Santa Head but thats stil a good treat EH.......
I promise it will work out like I said IF I can do it so can you ........

Icing can be used or if you think of something else that would work better plz do let me know
I am open for some ideas too
Sparkles fo good in the beard but not many same as hat........

MY GK's and Cait loved when at Christmas I would make this for them all
YOu can use chocolate and alternate if you want........
turn
UP TO YOU............HAVE FUN.......DO I sound Certifiable yet...........

My contribution is not to kill anyone with my cooking.  I have written down several of the recipes here and given them to my sisters and Mom who are excited to try them.  I'm really good at driving to the store, walking in, buying some different bags of chips, paying for them and coming home.  My family does not even ask me to cook anything - they learned the hard way.  I just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful recipes here.  Every time I read one is makes my mouth water and the hunger pangs start.

My mouth is hanging open as I picture the Santa Cake and cannot decide what part to cut into because to me Big Sis, this cake was made for eatin and that's just what I'm a gonna do! devil

That was great...........I need napkin to go with my cake please.

Here is one..........

Whole Roasted Carrots

3 pounds (about 25 to 30) thin carrots

3/4 cup orange juice

1/3 cup light brown sugar

1 teaspoon dried thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

- Peel carrots but do not trim tops or bottoms. Place in a large roasting pan.

- In small bowl, mix orange juice, brown sugar andthyme. Stir until brown sugar dissolves. Pour over carrots and turn them until all are coated.

- Roast for 45 minutes. Check halfway and spoon liquid at bottom over carrots. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serves 10 (2 to 3 carrots per person).

Note: There should not be more than 1/2-inch liquid in the bottom of the pan or the carrots will boil rather than roast.

Happy Holidays.

Here is a good Mac and Cheese recipe that tastes kind of like KFC's :)

Boil some elbow macarooni
Add Ragu cheese sauce to preference
Bake in the oven if you like (I sprinkle shredded cheddar on mine:)

Can't get much cheaper or easier than that :)

Christmas Homemade Brownies Recipe

Homemade brownies are among almost everyone's chocolate favorites. These brownies are a snap to make and you can decorate them however you like. Add food coloring to the frosting to get the desired color and top off with sugar or cookie sprinkles.

Brownie Ingredients:

2 c. sugar

1 c. flour

2/3 c. cocoa

2/3 c. vegetable oil

4 eggs

2 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients in large mixing bowl. Pour into a 13"x9" lightly greased pan and bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes.

Vanilla Frosting Ingredients:

3 c. powdered sugar

1/4 c. shortening

1/4 c. water

2 tsp. vanilla

food coloring

Stir together the first four ingredients in a mixing bowl. To color thefrosting, add the food coloring of your choice. Spread the frosting on cooled brownies.

OR for Kitt just frost with chocolate frosting  and toss some red and green sprinkle on them.................. tongue
