Good Eveing everyone. Im over from the Crohns board and I hope I can get some answers from you guys. Im not sure if is anxiety but it sure seems like it. I cant let anything this go. I guess the only way I can describe it is I worry about every little thing. I have had the same job now for 7 years but I go into work eveyday feeling as though I could be fired right there for no reason. On my days off If my phone goes off I have to answer it for fear if I don't it could lead me to be fired. Im losing sleep at night up worrying about did I shut the stove off did I lock the car did I pay this bill or that or what is going to happen at work. I get my self so worked up that I get nueseated and I have people who can just see it in my face and ask me if Im allright or to just calm down, but I can't. I really don't know what do. What does this sound like? What should I do

  Hi MacGyver,

Welcome to the Anxiety forum, it dose sound a lot like an OCD disorder to me ( always worrying if you turn of the lights, stove and checking things more then once and repeating things etc)  Others with OCD will be on that deal with this kind of disorder that may help you

Hey, MacGyver:)

Welcome to the A&P Forum! I agree with Cowboy about the OCD thing. I have it and it is hard to overcome :) We have a thread on OCD if you want to jump over there and check it out :)

I sure hope you get to feeling better!

Well MacGyver I am from the Crohns board myself. And I think with having Crohns that just makes our anxiety worse. We worry what if we get sick and can't go to work, will they think I am faking it, etc etc etc. I worry all the time about the what if's. I think it is more anticipatory anxiety. I started seeing a therapist and taking Xanax on occasion and that has really helped me. I thought I was having little flares all the time turned out it was anxiety. Now I am able to recognize when the anxiety is about to kick in and take the Xanax and stop it in in tracks. My anxiety symptoms affect me in a gastric way too. I get nauseous, D, hot/cold flashes, and shaky. Hope that helps some.

Good luck,
Gail*Nanners*

MacGyver

I am sorry you are going through all of this and I would like to see you consider getting professional help. You may benefit from therapy to help you learn to cope with your feelings.

I see the OCD in your post but I also sense some Anticipatory Anxiety as your worried about what will happen tomorrow or when the phone rings.  I did pop the Anticipatory Anxiety thread to the top.

Please give it a look as well as the thread on OCD.

Take care.

Hi McGyver

Sorry you are going through so much turmoil.

I don't have OCD but I do worry about work all the time.  I don't worry that I'll be fired but I am always waiting for the "other shoe to drop" and something bad happening.  When I go to bed at night, I always think of something else that could go wrong.  It also seems like every Thu and Fri something big happens at work that causes me to worry all weekend. And I don't have OCD on top of that worry like you seem to have.

Someone on this forum will probably have good suggestions.  I'm afraid I am not much help.

Good luck to you.

I don't know much about OCD, but when I read your post it sounded just like it. I take Prozac for anxiety but I've heard it's also successful in treating OCD. But you need to find out what is going on. Good luck!

I feel you should see your PCP as soon as you can arrange it. Then you could get the rest you need :) If in doubt always go and see your PCP, even if it is just for peace of mind. . . I wish you luck and hope you get to feeling better!

Mac-Gyver.... I originally came from the Crohn's forum also.... I think having any chronic disease often leads to anxiety and depression. I don't know a whole lot about OCD.... but I would see my PCP as soon as possible and put all your cards on the table...
Most of us battle anxiety in varying degrees everyday.... it is never ending.... but we do have our triumphs. 'Sending you healing thoughts and prayers ..

I also have crohns and hang out at A and P because I am realizing a lot of my crohns symptoms pop up when I am experiencing anxiety. I used to think the crohns caused the anxiety but I am now thinking my anxiety causes my crohns symptoms at times.
27 Year old married female law student (last year!!). Diagnosed w/ CD 4 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD. I am sort of lactose intollerant too but can handle anything cultured and do well w/ lactose pills and lactaid. For crohns I am currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day and hysociamine prn. I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Yes please do see you PCP to talk over with him how you are feeling and the lack of sleep, the constant worries and the worrying what will happen tomorrow which is what caused me not to be able to sleep 3 years ago.

I would be about all night anticipating how bad the next day was going to be.

See your  doctor now, don't try to tough it out without professional help.

Blessings
