i recently started having panic attacks and anxiety within the last 3 weeks. i started taking xanax .25 mg i took one but did not like how it made me feel. so i did not tale another one. i recently start back taking them on dec 11, then the next day i started to have insomina so i went to see a counselor who advise me to ask my doctor to put me on a low dose of paxil 10mg which i start taking on the 15th of dec. i took them both for the next 4 days. xanax i do not have a problem with but the paxil i do not like, i feel so depress after taking them i want to cry and i feel so sad. i do not take them on the 19th and the 20th i took one on the 21st which was a church day but could not enjoy service because i was so sad. i did not take anything on the 22th which was a good day. i took a paxil on the 23rd and again i felt sad and depress. i had to say to myself that i can not take them anymore. i am two days free from the paxil but im having the side effects of the zap at night and dizzyness as well as anxiety attacks. i had to take a xanax last night due to the anxiety feeling.

i need to know how long does the paxil stay in your system. just so you know i no longer have the paxil my mom took them because she does not like how they make me feel. how long is it going to take me to get it our when i only took them for 6 days. im also thinking about stop taking the xanax which i only have taken for 10 days.

i also think im going through perimenopause which may be why im having the anxiety and panic attacks. any suggestions to a naturally way to overcome both will be helpful.

i take atarak for allergies but i just found out i can take them for my anxiety without the side effects what do you think????

  Hi reaves

welcome to HW not all meds tend to help you as you have said with paxil it is at time a try this and see how it works kind of deal but at the same time it dose tend to take a few weeks to start kicking in and start helping you

But like me, when I first started taking lexapro I hated it and sleep forget it not happening but the same with xanax no way, my body did not like it one bit

But I went back to the doc and was told to give it sometime to work (the lexapro) and went back to the Valium and it ended up helping me out in the long run But do talk to your doc there maybe a need of a change in your meds as not all meds work for everyone the same I hope things get better for you and Please keep us posted and Marry Christmas to you to

Helllo and welcome to HealingWell and the A & P forum.
I am a bit confused as your Mother has taken your meds?
I would like to suggest you are having the strange sx as your not taking the med according to the way it was prescribed.

Please talk with your physician and make a decision to go off Paxil and try something else or see what he thinks.  Do be honest and upfront.  Ask him to explain the drug, and it's side effects which should go away once you have been on the med for awhiile.

I wish you peace and happiness and a warm welcome to HW.

Hi Reaves,

I really have to agree with Kitt. I think that you should be more consistant with your medications in order for them to work for you. Plus it takes four to six weeks to get the full benefit from the anti depressants.

As Kitt said, be honest with your doctor and tell him you didn't take it consistantly, but make sure to tell him why. You might do better on a different med. I know that you really don't want to take them, but it is better than being anxious and depressed. I have been on some type of med for twenty years or more and it really has helped. I have been struggling with depression and anxiety for over thirty years and I can tell that I need medications.

If you are really adiment (sp) about the medications, hopefully your doctor can help you with that too.

I am so happy that you posted here, this is really a good forum. I am sure that there are some people that can give you advice about some alternate methods of treating the depression and anxiety. I practice meditation and deep breathing and that helps.

Best wishes to you.

Hugs, Karen

Hi Reaves and welcome :)

You already received solid advice already. I also agree that it has taken more than 6 weeks sometimes for me to feel the benefit of several meds. You should also speak with your Pdoc ASAP.

I hope you get to feeling better.

Merry Christmas!

I really think you need to go back to your doc and tell him about the side effects Paxil has given you. There are so many different SSRI's that you can try, maybe Paxil was not the right one for you. Good luck!

i would like to thank everyone for there reply and after thinking about my good days it is safe to say it was after i took the paxil the day before so maybe i do have to give it some time but i do have a dr appt in a few and i will discuss with her that i may need to try something else that may need to work. i also started to take a vitaimin b complex. i realize i have not been good to my body and it is fighting back. i refuse to lose this worry. i have a problem with not having control of my body. i also want instant results, that will everything.

i am so glad i am not the only person, i thought i was going to lose my mind. it is reassuring to know there are others that feel like me.

  • i look foward to speaking with everyone again. i want to know is there a chat room i do better with my aniexty if im talking to someone. can you let me know.

At the top of the page, there is a space that says chat. That is how you get there. It will let you know if anybody is in there at the time.

Good luck,

Reaves, I'm peri-menopausal, also. It doesn't help my anxiety or MVP. But I guess it's something we have to put up with. Great, huh? Hope u feel better!
