I do that stuff... but I can't really call myself a "true friend" of anyone... I have a tendency to keep a distance in many of my relationships... I'm afraid of getting too close to anyone because throughout my life everyone I've cared about has just... left... or I left (not willingly)... Guess it goes all the way back when I was about four years old.... Being moved from foster home to foster home... Guess it was a defense mechanism to keep me from going insane from trying to form close relationships and being, as I felt, "tossed away"...

Hmm... I don't really have any deep, meaningful quotes... but I do have this one...

"You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose... But you can't pick your friend's nose." Not sure where it came from... I've heard it on the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, though....
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

this is one of my favorite quotes... "there comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will." smilewinkgrin

I'm alone, on my own, and that's all I know
I'll be strong, I'll be wrong, oh but life goes on
I'm just a girl, trying to find a place in this world

I used to be better at maintaining relationships with my friends, but gradually I have found that harder to do. I'm not as patient with people's habits as I used to be, not as excited about getting together regularly. I've had friends in my life who have really disappointed me, and I don't like to be disappointed. It's harder for me to trust people than it used to be.

although this is a tad morose, i LIVE  and swear by this quote:

"True friends stab you in the front" Oscar Wilde. so no backstabbing, if you have a problem, respect me enough to say it to my face. even though it may hurt, respect me enough to be honest and upfront, rather than gossip about me to others. i love this quote, actually, i love Oscar Wilde- maybe its cos im an english (and art) teacher.....

It's practically a mantra of mine.. when i am tempted to say something sneaky and hurtful about a close friend, i remember this quote and adress the situation properly.

ONLY a few have gotten thru these walls I built at an early age to protect myself from hurt and pain

......................True Friends Do Not TRY to Break Walls Before YOU are Ready...................................

They will continue to listen and they will know when the time is right ...........I honestly believe.......

.........Then they accept you for whatever you have told them or they have told you

..........Continuing to be your BEST FRIEND

My biggest belief about friends is that their friendship should be unconditional. A true friend is there for you in good times and bad. Who prays for you, if they are prayers, who hugs you when times are rough, and who you can be there for in the same way. I have to say I have met some of the best friends right here on Healingwell. There are some wonderful people living with anxiety, who I truly have come to love very much. Sometimes I don't even know what they look like, but I do recognize kind hearts sight unseen.

Very well said and I totally agree
No way should there be "Conditions" on friendships or love for that matter

It comes from the heart and it is really amazing when you find those very few friends
and a person to love and share your life with

Love and Friendships are Blessings IMHO

.....Nanners

I too have met many a heart unseen that I have become so close to here on HW

Big Sis,

True Friends are not perfect, they have flaws.

True friends never leave your heart.

True friends understand your past, blelieve in your future and accept you just the way you are.

True friends think you are a good egg even  though they know you are slightly cracked.

Ture firends accept apologizes and never hold grudges.

I hope I possess all of the attributes of a true friend that I have posted in this thread.

I have a true friend that lives in Canada.
I love you Big Sis.
Love Little Sis

OK, in this public forum I will say what needs to be said as there is a elephant in the room...................

I am sorry my dear Big Sis,  I remember a post in true friends that said to tell the truth and say what is bothering you and not hold it in.  Well I guess I should have just held it in as I did not mean to hurt you.  I know your problems and issues.  I am sorry I said anything to you to cause you pain.

Lyn is the best Moderator on HW and the Number one person on the boards in my humble opinion.  She is not recognized enough or thanked by me or other people.

She goes through hades with her disease and yet she comes here and does the best she can and now I feel her hurt and pain and yes anger at me.  I will learn someday to shut up and not share my feelings............................I never meant to hurt you My Big Sis and I understand if I am booted to the curb...........that is where I belong...........so kick me in my MN tush and I will be on my way.

This is your forum, you built it and you did a heck of a job.

I am sorry and I will leave for now.

I understand what word is missing in your posts.

Love

Lil Sis
