Just curious if there is a saying or quotations you say to yourself or others when times are tough?

One I always liked, and has meant alot to me is:

"You can't move forward, if you are always looking in the rearview mirror"

I repeat this to myself, when I start worrying about something that happened in the past and is affecting my outlook for the future.

Do you have one?

Hugs,

Shouldn't that be soft toilet paper:) None of that rough scratchy stuff for my tender bum. If any of the a/p folks wonder what Lyn and I are discussing re TP, is we both have Crohns Disease and are frequent visitors to the toilet:)

When I'm having one of my "I'm too sensitive days" and feel like (or think) people are just walking all over me and I need to step away from my emotional self this is what I say to myself over and over"

"I am a rock, I am an island" (a rock feels no pain and an island never cries)

It's a few words from some song I heard long ago but it toughens me up emotionally and I get thru the rest of the day without letting anyone or anything get under my skin or into my heart.  I realize that feeling no emotional pain and never crying is not "healthy" but for short term relief this phrase works for me.  And I've used it a lot the past month at work.

I like the quote that is in my signature and repeat it a lot and there are a few more I like:

~Buddha~

"Defer no time, delays have dangerous ends."
~William Shakespeare~

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."
~Henry Ford~

I really love many different quotes :)

I have a couple:

1. And this too shall pass

2. My God is STILL on the throne

These just help me to realize that these attacks come and go and that God knows what I'm going through and it with me through my good times and bad.

Well Nanners, I want to keep you happy............... smhair

This is one I have used for many years:

"The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step." ~ Lao Tzu ~

One step at a time, one problem at a time. It may seem obvious, but many of us do not proceed in this way. Conscious change often requires two essential components -removing unhealthy things and adding things that are healthy. We also need to strengthen ourselves with positive, life-supporting activities and friends in order to make changes stick.

I wish each of you Peace

Luvs

That one is funny Nikki, I used to listen to Puff Daddy all the time :) That phrase also sticks out in my head!

Here is another:

Yesterday does not equal tomorrow. Forget the past and move towards your goals.
- Tony Robbins

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.

When the night has come And the land is gone And the moon is the only light we'll see, I won't be afraid,no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me !

I love these lyrics as they say it all, I need someone to stand by me.

Never pass up an opportunity to keep your mouth shut.

Well kiddos, I am turning it over to you now..........I am off to bed.

That song reminds me of being younger and healthy and drifting off to sleep under the stars (used to sleep outside a lot growing up with my radio and teddy bear, lol:)

Anyway here is another quote then I'm off to bed myself dear friends. . . It's my inner child combating the darn anxiety.

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
Dr. Seuss

What a great thread! I haven't read everyone's responses, but after I post I am going to go back and read them all. My sayings:

1. "We may not be in control of life's circumstances, but how we react is up to us."

2. "Do not be anxious for tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself."
