Happy New Year to everyone at Healing well,
Welcome to all our lovely new members and a congratulations to all our wonderful new Mods.
I wanted to share something in the hope I can prevent a similar problem happening to anyone of you and to remind us all (no matter how "old hat" we think we are) to take the time to read the instructions on our meds. Carefully..and then again.
I got a rotten flu on christmas day and took some pain killers to help get me through the day..I kept this up..the symptoms kept up..I went to the chemist and got a strong cold and flu medication. What I didn't do was read the instructions carefully (I could blame it on being sick..but it's not anything to joke about).
Early morning 31st December I collapsed and was admitted to hospital for severe liver damage. I have been in there since this morning and I have never feared for my life like this before. They were considering surgery..transplant lists..all because I didn't take the time to read the instructions and warnings on my over-the-counter meds.
I don't mean to be a shocked grumpy bear, I'm just hoping that my scare will help us all to remember that meds have to be treated with respect. Fortunately for me I seem to land on my feet (I must be a cat!) and the medication they flushed me with has "reversed" the damage and my liver count and function is normal. I am so incredibly fortunate. I intend to make my new years resolution (haven't had time to think of one yet) to respect my body, respect my medication and to make sure no-one else is as silly as me!!
I hope you are all having a beautiful start to the year and I look forward to spending another wonderful year of healing, sharing and support with my HW family. Take care each and every one of you.
I need to go to sleep now..it's hard work sitting up!

Hi Meg

Meg sounds like a real scare, I am pleased you have pulled through and that your liver count and function are back to normal and as Maz says thanks for alerting us to the dangers as sometimes we forget to respect our medication and land our selfs in trouble. Great to see you back on HW we have missed you, you are a very important part of this family and we are here to support you as you support us. Take care Meg

Hi Meg!

I'm so glad to hear from you and double now you let us know what you have been through. Oh, man. . . I am so sorry that you had to suffer so much during the holidays but I'm sure you are relieved like the rest of us that you are alive and actually recovered from this. You are in my prayers my friend :) And thank for the heads up on the meds also, because I know many of us have been guilty of this if only with supplements that can be just as harmful. There have been many questions on here lately about meds and supplements so thank goodness you are with us to set the record straight :)

Also, thanks for the congrats and Happy New Year to you also!!!
Take care and have a wonderful day! . . . Your Bro . . . Sam :)

I am so sorry you were so sick and I am also going to kick your butt for not letting me know,  I know that darlin man of yours knows how to use computer.  I assumed you were taking your Christmas break and having a good time.  I am praying for you to heal completely and no complications to pop up.

Seems more then one of us had a tough Christmas.

With 8 active mods on now we can all rest easier and not be on the boards every waking minute.

I have missed you....................((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))
