I have taken a Beta Blocker several years ago and it did nothing for me, but there are other members on here that are taking them and have had great success :) They will be on here to share their experiences with you soon my friend :)

Take care and have a nice day!

I used them and found they were great for calming you down, It slows the heart rate. Students sometimes use them before a big exam. But in the big picture do you really want to be playing with your heart rate??? Slowing it? Whos to say what will happen when u get older and have been tampering with such a valuable organ...Look into it, because I was told by the doc it was no big deal...I loved them, used them all the time. Only to find out of my chemist friend many years later how dangerious they can be..especially in the future. I would love to hear more about this too!! gilllxx

Hey there , put in Beta blockers into the search site above and you will find all kinds of threads that discuss Beta Blockers.

This should help you in understanding the Beta Blockers.

Thanks

I was prescribed them the first time I ever went to the doctor (at that point i had no idea i was having panic attacks). he just said - they will help control the adrenaline thats making you feel like this. (how useless is that? and wrong too).
Anyway, they did nothing for me. I think unless a prominant symptom of yours is racing heart, then you won't have much luck. What worked for me was prozac.. and reading up on it all..

Wow, I'm quite different than others who have posted on here. I was recently put on a Beta Blocker and it's changed my life. My symptoms were racing heart and skipped beats. The doc put me on the lowest dose. The Beta Blocker blocks adrenaline. If you read up on them, you will find this to be true. I'm not a doctor, but I can tell you that my days are perfect now. I have great days. I'm able to do everything I want to do. I'm so glad I finally began taking them.

I take one (Toprol XL) for high blood pressure, and it also helps with my migraines. Does nothing for my anxiety though.

Aries,
What beta blocker are you taking and what dose? I was prescribed inderol 10 mgs as needed by one dr for skipped beats then my cardiologist said don't take a BB until you absolutely need one (like for life I assumed) so I never took it. I have the meds in the cabinet....
